This invention relates to .a blade magazine to be used in connection with an injector razor. One type of such a razor comprises a back plate, terminating in a forwardly extending bladeclam-ping cap, and a blade platform on a downwardly extending supporting plate articulated to the back plate and held with the blade platform in contact with the clamping cap by .means of a spring. Blades are commonly fed to such a razor from a magazine which is provided with a forwardly extending cam finger designed to be inserted between the supporting plate and the back plate and, by separating the two, to release the clamping pressure of the clamping cap upon the blade on the platform, whereupon the topmost blade in the magazine is fed forward, by means of a manually operated slide, between the cap and the platform, discharging the dull blade as the sharp one moves into shaving position. On removal of the cam finger, the parts move again into blade-clamping position and the razor isready for use.
It is the object of the present invention to improve the magazine designed for use in connection with injector razors of the type just described. In doing this I have provided a casing with an open top designed to receive "a clip of blades. This clip has a longitudinal slot in its top along which the ejector slide moves and has a blade exit slot at its forward end which lies in the plane of the blade platform of the razor. A spring in the bottom of the clip presses the stack of blades against the underface of the top with the uppermost blade in alignment with the exit slot so that as the injected sharp blade is seated it ejects its dull predecessor. The clip is 'removably retained in the casing and is intended to be discarded when empty and replaced "by a full one. The casing itself, however, may be used continually.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention. In these drawings:

The injector razor illustrated in these drawings comprises a handle I from which extends a back plate 2 bent forward at its upper end to "form an upper blade-clamping cap 3. A supporting plate l bent forward at its upper end to form a blade-supporting platform 5 is articulated to the back plate by means of a tongue 6 struck from the latter and extending forward through an opening in the supportin plate, which plate is normally held in contact with the back plate by means of a spring I. The supporting plate is bent downward at its outer edge to form the usual guard '8 and provided, at each end, with the usual blade stops 3. The foregoing is a description of a common type of injector razor and, of itself, forms no part of my invention.
As shown in Figure 4, the clamping cap '3 is holding a blade H in shaving position upon the blade platform 5. In order to enable the shaver to remove this blade when it becomes dull and to substitute a sharp one, a magazine is provided as already stated. I shall now describe the novel blade magazine of my invention. 7
The magazine comprises a casing or clip holder .i2 in which a clip I3 carrying a stack of blades M is removably mounted. Both casing and clip are made of metal, as for example, aluminum.
The casing comprises side walls I5 connected along their top edges with short forward and after decks or sections ['5 and I1 respectively. The casing is thus opened along its entire bottom and for most of its top. Extending forwardly from one of the side walls is a cam finger I8 provided with cam projections 19. This finger is designed to be inserted between the back plate and supporting plate 4 of the razor to cam the latter forward, as shown in Figure 5, to raise the "blade-clamping cap from the blade lying upon the blade platform 5.
The ejector slide 23, shown in Figure '8, comprises a plate 21 which overlies and slides upon the casing and clip in a manner to be described presently. It is provided with dependin knurled or serrated flanges 2'2 which embrace the sides '15 of the casing. The forward half of the plate 2| is cut away to form .a forwardly extending tongue 23 depressed slightly below the plane of the plate and provided with longitudinal flanges 24. The after deck ll of the casing is provided with a medial slot 25 designed to receive the tongue 23, the upper face of which lies slightly belowthe upper face of the deck while the flanges 24 extend under the deck and are flush wth its lower surface. The forward deck [6 is provided with a guideway 25 designed to receive the tongue 23 in its foremost position. The forward deck is also provided with an upturned flange 2'! which abuts against the end of the razor when the magazine is in blade-injecting position, as shown in Figures 2 and 3.
The clip i3 is provided with side walls 23, a bottom 29 and a top 30 having an open-ended longitudinal slot 3!. The side walls 28 are cut away at 32 to provide the material for transversely extending flanges 33 on the top wall 39. These flanges are somewhat less in length than the distance between the decks it and ii and are intended to overlie the upper edges of the side walls E of the casing when the clip is mounted within the casing and determine the'position of the topmost blade. The farther side wall 23, as shown in Figure 10, is provided with forward and rearward extensions 34 which are bent inwardly to engage the ends of the blades after the blade stack has been inserted to form front and rear walls respectively, closing the clip and retaining the blades against endwise displacement. The bottom 29 of the clip is provided with a longitudinal channel 35 centrally depressed at 36 to receive a leaf -spring 37, the ends of which engage the lower face of the blade stack i i and press it upward against the underface of the top wall 35.
The side walls of the casing are provided with inwardly pressed dimples 38 designed to lie within correspondingly spaced holes 39 in the side walls of the clip and yieldably retain the clip within the casing. Thus to mount the clip in the casing it is inserted through the open top and pressed downwardly until the dimples 1-38 snap into the holes 39 and the flanges 33 lie upon the upper edges of the side walls l5. Upward pressure exerted upon the bottom of the clip dislodges the dimples and frees the clip for removal. The opening in the top of the magazine is so shaped with reference to the clip that the latter can be inserted only in one position and that position is the one in which the sharp edges of the blades point away from the finger i8. When the clip is inserted within the casing the slide is, of course, moved to the rear and is overlying the after deck i'i, After the clip has been inserted the topmost blade lies in the plane of tongue 23 and thus th slide and tongue may be moved forward to engage the rear end of the topmost blade and move it toward the razor. The upper edge 46 of the forward wall 34 of the clip is spaced a distance of a little more than the thickness of one blade from the underface of the top -but less than the thickness of twoto form a blade exit slot 4|, as shown most clearly in Figure 6. Thus as the topmost blade is moved forward with the slide it emerges from the clip through the slot 6i and onto the blade platform 5 from which it ejects the dull blade,
When the blades in the clip have all been ejected, the clip is thrown away and a new one inserted. If desired, a whole new magazine may be obtained, but the casing and slide can be used over and over again until they are worn out. Casing, clip and slide can be cheaply made, each from a single piece of stamped metal and there are no parts to get out of order. Nevertheless the parts can be accurately made and the blades mounted with precision.
I claim:
1. A dispensing magazine for an injector razor comprising a casing having side walls and an open top, a forwardly extending cam finger for mounting the magazine upon the razor, a clip of blades removably mounted in the casing and having a longitudinal slot in its top, an exit slot for the blades at its forward end, a spring pressing the blades against the underface of the top with the topmost blade in alignment with the exit slot, and flanges on the clip overlying the upper edges of the side walls of the casing, and an ejector slide mounted on the casing and slidable over the top of the clip to engage the topmost blade and eject it through the exit slot.
2. A dispensing magazine for an injector razor comprising a casing having side and top walls, the top wall being cut away for most of its length to receive a clip of blades, a forwardly extending cam finger for mounting the magazine upon the razor, an ejector slide mounted on the top wall, and. having a tongue for engaging a blade, and a clip containing a stack of blades removably mounted in the casing having an exit slot for the blades at its forward end, a spring pressing the stack of blades against the underface of the top with the topmost blade in alignment with the exit slot, and a longitudinal slot in the top of the clip designed to receive the tongue on the slide, whereby the topmost blade can be ejected through the exit slot.
3. A blade clip for an injector magazine comprising bottom, side and top walls, outwardly extending flanges on the top wall, a stack of blades in the clip, a spring pressing the stack against the underface of the'top wall, front and rear walls engagin the ends of the blades, the top edge of the front wall being spaced below the plane of the underside of the top Wall a distance slightly greater than the thickness of a blade to form an exit slot, the top wall having a longitudinal slot through which an ejector may move to eject the topmost blade, said longitudinal slot having its end remote from the exit slot open.
4. A. dispensing magazine for an injector razor comprising a casing having side walls and a top and a cam finger for mounting the casing upon the razor extending forwardly from one side wall, the top of the casing being cut away except for short sections at the front and rear, a clip of blades transversely removably mounted in the casing and having end walls and a top, an exit slot for the blades in the forward end wall of the clip, a spring pressing the blades against the underside of the top of the clip with the topmost blade in alignment with the exit slot, a longitudinal slot in the top of the clip, outwardly extending flanges on the top overlying the upper edges of the side walls of the casing, the top of the clip lyin in the same plane with the top sections of the casing, and an ejector slide mounted on the casing and slidable over the top of the clip and having a tongue extending into the longitu dinal slot to engage the topmost blade and eject it through the exit slot.
