This invention relates to improvements .in a holder for dispensing cartons and the like.

The main objects of this invention are:

First, to provide a holder for dispensing cartons and the like such, for example, as tissue dispensing cartons, which may be readily applied to various forms of supports; for example, it may be applied to the glove box of a motor vehicle or to a wall or door of a kitchen, bathroom or the like.

Second, to provide a holder having these advantages which is very economical and may be very easily applied to support cartons or containers of different types and dimensions.

Third, to provide a holder which is adapted to various conditions to be met with, both in the matter of type of container to be supported and the part on which it is to be mounted.

Objects relating to details and economies of the invention will appear from the description to follow. The invention is pointed out in the claims.

.A preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Fig. 1 is a plan view illustrating the holder of my invention as mounted on a wall or other support and engaged with a dispensing carton which is shown conventionally.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged end elevational view partially in section'on line 2-2 of Fig. 3.

Fig. 3 is a sectional viewon a line corresponding to line 3-3 of Fig. 2, a portion of the attaching element being rolled back to show adhesive thereon.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the hook member of the embodiment of my invention shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 inclusive.

Fig. '5 is a fragmentary view partially in section of a modified form or embodiment of my invention applied to a supporting surface and engaging a carton.

Fig. 6 is a front perspective view of the modified form of my invention with one end of the attaching element rolled back to disclose adhesive thereon.

Fig. 7 is a perspective view of another modified form of my invention, the modification being in the hook member.

Fig. 8 is a longitudinal section of the embodiment of my invention shown in Fig. 7 taken on line 88 thereof. 7

In the accompanying drawing, I represents a wall or other supportand 2 a dispensing carton, one of the sheets being indicated at 3. The embodiment of my invention illustrated in Figs. 1 to Linclusive, comprises a disc-like attaching element 4 of flexible material desirably circularas shown. This attaching element'has adhesive 5,on its rear side preferably of the pressure sealing type. The disc has diametrically opposed T-shaped slits 6, the stems of which open to the edges of the disc, the cross portions 7 of the slits being substantially spaced. An endless elastic strap 8 is engaged in the slits to embrace the portion 9 of the disc between the slits.

The hook member IE! is in this embodiment of my invention formed of flat stock, metal, plastic or the like and has an open ended slot I l at one end adapted to receive the loop of the strap 8. The slit-like entrance [2 to the slot ll permits the engagement of the strap and is positioned so that the stresses on the strap are away from the entrance slit.

The member It! is provided with a hook l3 which may be engaged with the carton as indicated in Fig. 1 so that the pull or stress on the carton is sustained edgewise by a wall thereof. The member I0 is of substantial dimensions to provide a finger piece and has holes Hi therein to facilitate the grasping. The holders are desirably used in pairs although more of them may be used as desired. The hook members are engaged with the carton with the straps 8 under stress so that the tension of the straps tends to hold the hooks in engagement and to clamp the carton against the supporting surface. With the attaching element adhesively secured to the support the slits 6 are in effect closed against tearing stresses as the adhesive is applied to the entire rear side of the support and the edges of the slits are adhered to the support.

In the embodiment of my invention shown in Figs. 5 and 6 the attaching element I5 is in the form of .a strap and has adhesive [6 on its rear surface. The hook member comprises the flat body portion I! having longitudinally spaced pairs of transverse slots 18, the slots of the pairs being spaced to provide bar portions iii. The attaching member is rove through the slots and over the bar portions l9 effectively securing the hook member to the attaching element while the main portion of the attaching element is under or at the rear of the hook member so that the major part of its adhesive surface is available for attachment to a support.

Ihe hook arm 28 of the embodiment shown in Figs. 5 and 6 is of considerable length and terminates in the prong 2! which is engageable with a Wall of the container indicated at 22 in Fig. 5. To prevent slipping of the container or carton relative to the holder I preferably provide the hook member with a plurality of prong-like teeth 23 struck up therefrom and directed toward the hook arm to engage the carton as shown in Fig. 5.

This provides a very secure attachment.

25, 26 and 21 and the attaching member is rove through these slots to secure the hook member as is clearly shown in Figs. 7 and 8. In this embodiment the arm 28 is formed from the stock partially severed to form the slot 21. The body member is slit to provide the prong 29 along the edges of the slots, the arm 28 being connected to the body member at one end of the slot. It is provided with a prong 29 projecting toward the body member and spaced therefrom substantially as in Fig. 6. The embodiments of Figs. to 8, inclusive, are also adapted to support cartons or containers of 'various dimensions and for mounting on various forms of supporting surfaces.

I have illustrated and described these highly practical forms or embodiments of my invention. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe certain other embodiments or adaptations which I contemplate as it is believed that this disclosure will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my invention as may be desired.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A holder for dispensing cartons and the like comprising a disc of flexible material having pressure sealing adhesive on the rear side thereof and having diametrically opposed T-shaped slits, the stem portions of which open at the edges of the disc, an endless elastic strap disposed through both of said slits and positioned in the cross portions thereof to embrace the portion of the disc between the slits, and a hook member formed of flat stock and having an open ended slot at one end receiving said strap and having an upwardly facing hook on its inner edge adapted to engage the wall of a carton with the strap under tension and acting to resiliently retain the hook in engagement with the carton, the hook member being of substantial area to provide a finger piece and having holes therein facilitating grasping for applying extending stress to the strap and engaging the hook with the strap under tension.

2. A holder for dispensing cartons and the like comprising a disc of flexible material having pressure sealing adhesive on the rear side thereof and having diametrically opposed T-shaped slits, the stem portions of which open at the edges of the disc, an endless elastic strap disposed through both of said slits and positioned in the cross portions thereof to embrace the portion of the disc between the slits, and a hook member having an open ended clot at one end receiving said strap and having an upwardly facing hook adapted to engage the wall of a carton with the strap under tension and acting to resiliently retain the hook in engagement with the carton.

3. A holder for dispensing cartons and the like comprising an attaching element of flexible material having adhesive on the rear side thereof and having opposed slits opening at its edges, an endless elastic strap disposed through both of said slits to embrace the portion of the element between the slits, and a hook member formed of flat stock and having an open ended slot at one end receiving said strap and having an upwardly facing hook on its inner edge adapted to engage the wall of a carton with the strap under tension and acting to resiliently retain the hook in engagement with the carton, the hook member having a finger piece portion facilitating grasping for applying extending stress to the strap and engaging the hook with the strap under tension.

4. A holder for dispensing cartons and the like comprising an attaching element of flexible material having adhesive on the rear side thereof and having opposed slits opening at its edges, an endless elastic strap disposed through both of said slits to embrace the portion of the element between the slits, and a hook member slot receiving said strap and having an upwardly facing hook adapted to engage the wall of a carton with the strap under tension and acting to resiliently retain the hook in engagement with the carton, the hook member having a finger piece portion facilitating grasping for applying extending stress to the strap and engaging the hook with the strap under tension.

5. A holder for dispensing cartons and the like comprising an attaching element of flexible material having adhesive on the rear side thereof and having opposed slits opening at its edges, an endless elastic strap disposed through both of said slits to embrace the portion of the element between the slits, and a hook member formed of fiat stock and having an open ended slot at one end receiving said strap and having an upwardly facing hook on its inner edge adapted to engage the wall of a carton with the strap under tension and acting to resiliently retain the hook in engagement with the carton.

6. A holder for dispensing cartons and the like comprising an attaching element of flexible material having adhesive on the rear side thereof and having opposed slits opening at its edges, an endless elastic strap disposed through both of said slits to embrace the portion of the element between the slits, and a hook member slot receiving said strap and having an upwardly facing hook adapted to engage the wall of a carton with the strap under tension and acting to resiliently retain the hook in engagement with the carton.

7. A holder for dispensing cartons and the like comprising an attaching element of flexible material having pressure sealing adhesive on the rear side thereof, an elastic strap secured to said element, a hook member formed of flat stock connected to said strap and having an upwardly facing hook on its inner edge adapted to engage the wall of a carton with the strap under tension and acting to resiliently retain the hook in engagement with the carton, the hook member being of substantial area to provide a finger piece and having a hole therein facilitating grasping for applying extending stress to the strap and engaging the hook with the strap under tension.
