Claims. (01. 240-103) This invention relates to reflectors for fluorescent or other lights which utilize long cylindrical bulbs. The reflector comprises two half sections which are easily adjusted to a narrow or wide, or any intermediate, spread. This can be done without separating the reflectors or providing independent substitute sections.

The reflector comprises the box section I which is provided with side walls which have turned under flanges 2, and a top wall 3. The end walls 4 of the box are provided up upstanding flanges 5 having holes 6 by which the box may be fastened in place or hung by straps or chains. The box I contains the electrical connections and transformer and other devices that are necessary for the operation of the light. These, however, are not shown. These electrical connections pass on through the hangers I which contain the proper sockets and contacts to support the fluorescent light bulbs 8. These hangers are supported on the reflector sections 9 and [0. These reflector sections are here shown as having angular areas or are the shape of a section of a prism. Obviously they could be curved. Their meeting and lapping edges are part cylindrical or curved and are designated I2 and 13. These part cylindrical edges are slotted as at I4 and [5 for the purpose of straddling the threaded bolt 16. This bolt passes up through the top of the box and has a head IT for supporting it in place. A coiled compression spring l8 tends to push the reflector downward where the part cylindrical edge portions l2 and [3 lap. The spring pushes against a washer l9. The wing nut 20 can be screwed up on the threads of the bolt l 6 to tip the sections 9 and I0 upwardly at their meeting edges. This allows the sections to be brought closer together and concentrates the light on a narrower area. The sections are adjustable within the limits of the slots l4 and I5. The inverted V strips 20 and 2| support the reflector sections on the turned under edges 2 of the box. The starters 22 and 23 are shown in the side wall of the box, Fig. 2.
From the above description and the showing of the drawings, it will be seen that adjustment of the reflector sections to a narrow or a wide, or any intermediate spread, may be easily accomplished by simply screwing the wing nut 20 upwardly or unscrewing the wing nut to its lowermost position where the greatest spread can be 2 had. The amount of adjustment, as previously stated, is dependent upon the length of the slots in the part cylindrical lapping portions of the reflector sections.
What I claim is:
1. A reflector and box containing the electrical connections of an elongated light source, having in combination a box, a, pair of reflector sections suspended from the box and having lapping cylindrical portions extending longitudinally and parallel with the light source at the center of the reflector and the box, and means contained in the box and partially on the outside of the lapping parts for adjusting the amount of overlap of said lapping sections and clamping the sections together and to the box and thereby ad-- justing the spread of the reflector sections.
2. The combination claimed in claim 1 in which; the bottom of the box is open and contains. turned under edge portions and inverted V sup-- ports secured to the top of the reflector sections; and bearing on the top of the turned under box. portions to support the reflector sections.
3. The combination claimed in claim 1 in, which the curved portions are part cylindrical. lapping sections of the reflectors and have over-- lapping slots and a bolt passing through the slots; and supported by the top of the box and provided. with a wing nut on the underside of the over-- lapping reflector sections for adjustment of the: angular disposition of the reflector sections.
4. The combination claimed in claim 3 in which a coil spring surounds the bolt and presses dOWHa on the top of the overlapping part cylindrical reflector sections.
5. The combination claimed in claim 4 in which supports of inverted V section are secured to the top of the reflector sections and having one of the arms of the inverted V engaging the turned under edges of the box.
