The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several'parts (of my improved closure operatorwhereby certain advantages are attainedas will be hereinafter more fully setforth.
In order that my invention may be better understmdlwill. nowproceed to describethe same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

"The inner or opposed ends of the sleeve drums 6 and 1 are providedin their walls with the outwardly opening recesses H and l2, respectively,
which are adapted tobe brought intoregister for a purpose to be hereinafter explained. Extending through thesleeve I and into the sleevefi is an endwise movable shaft H having one end portionextending through the opening IS in the plate 9 and outwardly beyondthe inside wall l of the stile. The extended portion of the shaft H! has operativelyengaged therewith a crank l6 s to provide ameans for rotatingthe same as desired in either direction.
'Theshaft I4 is provided with an outwardly and radiallydisposedblade or key I 1' which is normally heldwithinthe recess I2 of the" sleeve 1 by an expansible member 18. This member 18 is herein disclosed'as comprising a coil spring encircling the shaft l4 and interposed between Figure 2 is an enlarged detail sectional view 7 taken substantially on the line 2-"-2 of Figure '1;

As illustrated in the accompanying drawings,
S denotes a conventional type of stile for a window in which are arranged the usual balance weight for the upper sash A and the lower sash B. A these are all well known a detaildescription and illustration thereof is believed unnecessary.
The sidewalls I of the stile tions are provided with the aligned openings 2. Secured by the screws 3 or thelilre,v to the outer face of the outside wall I of the stile S, is a plate 4,-of a socket member S, which is disposed over the opening 2. v The central portion of the plate W 4 has rigid therewith a sleeve 5 which snugly fits within the opening 2 of the outside wall I and serves as a bearing to rotatably support one end portion of a drum sleeve 6.
The drum sleeve 6 is aligned with a second S at desired locaan outwardly facing internal shoulder I'll" within the sleeve 1 and the extended extremities "of a pin 2lldisposed radially through the shaft H at a desired distance outwardly from the internal shoulder I9. Tightly winding around the drum sleeve 1' is the intermediate portion of fafiexible cable 2| one end portion of which extending upwardly and out through the toppart of the front wall-'22 of the stile s over a conventional pulley 23; "The cable extends downwardlyfrom the pulley 23 and is anchored, at 24 to the top rail 240:0! the bottom sash'B. The cable 2| has a portion extending downwardly from the sleeve drum 1 and out through the front wall 22 of the stile S in engagement with a conventional pulley 26. The
cable extends upwardly from this pulley 2G and is anchored, as at 21, to the lower portion of the adjacent side rail 28 of the lower sash B. By
