A bottom portion 4 may be included.

A plurality of outwardly projecting members 5 are formed preferably integrally with the body portion l. The members 5 define between themselves tapered slots 6. If desired flattened portions or surfaces 'I may be formed on the member 5. The invention is not limited to the presence of the flattened portions.

In the modified form of Figure 4 instead of the ngers or parts 5, fingers or parts 8 are substituted. These parts or fingers have slots 9. The fingers 8 instead of having straight surfaces are shaped to provide tapered slots having shoulders l0. Thus the slot 9 is somewhat wider by comparison to the slot 6 and is in effect provided with two different tapers. The device will then be permitted to hang down, and the tie may thus be pressed to some degree against the surface of the support upon which the rack Y Not only does this pressure against thel surface tend, to some extent; to straighten out y hangs.

wrinkles in ties, but it also prevents tubing and twisting of ties. Because neck tiesare cut on the bias of thermaterial they sometimes have a tendency to tube or twist, especially in damp weather. Since the slots in all the forms are tapered, the rack is adaptable to ties of many thicknesses. Some ties, particularlythose made by knitting or those of relatively heavy material. will be substantially thicker than those of silk or thin material. The notched slots of Figures 4 and 5 are of importance primarily for providing a greater variation in slot diameter.

In the form of Figure 4, a thick tie such as one made of thick wool, even when folded or otherwise, may be tightly engaged when it has been pushed into only that part of the slot which lies outwardly of the shoulders I0. A thinner tie may be tightly engaged only when it is pushed into the slot which lies inwardly of the shoulder i0.

In the form of Figure 5, only one shoulder I2 is provided, but this alone provides for the outer portion ,ofA the slot i4 awidth greater than that which would have beenprovided had the notch construction not been present and'had two widths of the fingers H been comparableto that found in Figure 1 in which the ngers 5 are so shaped as to give to the slots 6 a continuous or unintei-,

It is to be understood that the rupted taper. taper may be along a curved rather than a straight line in each form ofthe device.

I claim: A

1. In combination in a tie rack, a main body part having substantially parallel sides, a top member, said member shaped vfor engagement with a support, and a. plurality of oppositely positioned tapered finger members extending laterally Yfroml said main body member, each finger being shaped to provide with an adjacent nger aninwardly tapered slot the inner extremity of which is defined by the'juncture of each two ad jacent fingers with said main body part, said fingers being shouldered intermediate their ends.

2. In combination in a tie rack, a main body part having substantially parallel sides, a top member, said member'shaped for engagement with a support, and a plurality of oppositely positioned tapered finger members extending laterally from said main body member, each finger being shaped to provide with an adjacent finger a tapered slot the inner extremityrof which is defined by the juncture of each two adjacent fingers withsaid main body part, said slot having its greatest diameter at its outer end'being progressively reduced toward its inner end, said iingers being shouldered intermediate their ends.'A
