Description

2 Claims.
' inclined to sag and the flabby, pendulous type.
Presently used bust supporting devices are constructed as supporters and fillers and cannot produce a natural youthful appearance of a bust supported thereby.
The primary object of the present invention is the provision of supporting and forming bust pads constructed to produce in combination with customary brassieres, foundation garments, etc., a natural appearance for a woman's bust, each pad being made of sponge rubber formed to give the pad crescent-shaped, longitudinal cross section and a rearwardly-inclined and downwardlycurved breast-shaping and supporting top portion.
Another object of the invention is the provision of breast-supporting and forming bust pads constructed to produce in combination with customary brassires, foundation garments, etc., a natural appearance of a womans bust, each pad being constructed of sponge rubber formed to give the pad wedge-shaped transversal cross section, crescent-shaped longitudinal cross section, and a rearwardly-inclined and downwardlycurved, breast-shaping and supporting top portion.
The above and additional objects and novel features of construction by which the objects in view have been attained, will appear and are set forth in detail in the course of the following specification.
The drawings accompanying and forming part of the specification illustrate a certain practical embodiment of the invention, but it will be apparent as the specification proceeds that the structure may be modified and changed in various ways without departure from the true spirit and scope of the invention.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a perspective front view showing a conventional type brassire on a woman's figure, the brassiere supporting bust pads constructed in accordance with the invention;
Fig. 2 is a side view of Fig. 1, the brassiere being shown partly in section to disclose the position of one of the bust pads with respect to a breast shaped and supported thereby;
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the bust pad;
Fig. 4 is a front view of the bust pad;
Fig. 5 is a vertical section through Fig. 4, the
. 2 sectionbeing taken on line 55 of said figure; and
Fig. 6 is a horizontal section through Fig. 4, the section being taken on line 66 or. said figure.
Referring now in detail to the exemplified form of the invention shown in the drawing, reference numeral 2 denotes a conventional brassiere on a woman s figure 3, which brassire supports in pockets or in any other suitable manner (not shown) a pair of bust pads 4.
These pads 4, which are identically shaped, are molded from sponge rubber or similar material. Each of these pads has a crescent-shaped form to permit close hugging of the body of the wearer by the rear face 5 and give the appearance of the fullness of a naturally-shaped youthful breast by the more sharply curved front face 6 of the pad, an appearance which is brought about in conjunction with the sharply curved lower edge I of the pad. The upper edge 8 of front face 6 is curved in a direction opposite to the curvature of lower edge 1, on a radius substantially larger than the radius of the curvature of such lower edge for a purpose hereinafter described.
Rear face 5 of pad 4 is of lower height than face -6 and in addition curved on a radius larger than the radius of said front face. The curvatures of the front and rear faces intersect each other at the bottom portion of the pad and are related to each other so that the vertical cross section of the pad is wedge-shaped and provides the pad with a supporting, forming top portion 9 adapted to effect proper shaping and supporting of a breast. Top portion 9 is rearwardly inclined and downwardly curved so as to follow substantially the curvature of upper edge 8 to effect a support of the root part of a breast and curving of such part in a manner to produce the appearance of fullness and simulate a youthful breast.
Pad 4 which supports and shapes principally the root portion of a breast, tends to shift the soft tissue of the breast toward the front portion of the breast, thus filling out such front portion and forming said portion to a firm and shapely contour while simultaneously curving the upper root portion of the breast and giving same the appearance of fullness and firmness.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
l. A breast supporting and forming device adapted to be used in combination with a brassire of standard construction comprising a lengthwise, crescent-shaped pad having. wedgeshaped vertical cross section decreasing in width toward its bottom, said pad including a convexly-curved front surface convexly curved in both vertical and transverse directions and formed with a convexly-curved top edge, a concavely-curved rear surface smaller than said front surface and concavely curved in both vertical and transverse directions and formed with a convexly-curved top edge, and a rearwardlyinclined, convexly-curved supporting and forming top surface encircled by the convexly-curved top edges of said front and rear surfaces, said top surface having its central portion extended upwardly higher than the side portions and being dimensioned to effect support of the portion of a breast adjacent to its root.
2. A breast supporting and forming device adapted to be used in combination with a brassire of standard construction comprising a pad of spongy, elastic material of lengthwise, crescent-shaped form and wedge-shaped, vertical cross section decreasing in width toward its bottom, said pad including a conv'exly-curved front surface convexly curved in both vertical and 4 transverse directions and formed with a convexly-curved top edge, a concavely-curved rear surface smaller than said front surface and concavely curved in both vertical and transverse directions and formed with a convexly-curved top edge, and a rearwardly-inclined, convexlycurved supporting and forming top surface encircled by the convexly-curved top edges of said front and rear surfaces, said top surface having its central portion extended upwardly higher than the side portions and being dimensioned to effect support of the portion of a breast adjacent to its root.
