WRAPPER FOR CONFECTIONERY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 260,055, dated June 27, 1882.
Application filed March 30, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom "it may concern Be it known that I, AUGUST SOHWARZ- SOHILD, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improved Wrapper for Confectionery, &c., of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and accurate description.
The object of my invention is to produce a new and improved wrapper for lozenges, candies, and confectionery generally, and other articles prepared for sale in small packages, which wrappers will be the means of attracting the attention, taste, fancy, or humor of the would-be purchaser.
My invention consists in printing or placing on the wrapper a conundrum, enigma, or riddle, in such a manner that the conundrum, enigma, or riddle will readily catch the eye of a person taking up the wrapper inclosing the contents, and having also on the same wrapper an answer to the said conundrum, enigma, or riddle, so printed or placed that the answer cannot be seen until the wrapper is opened.
1n my drawings, Figurel shows my improved wrapper closed. Fig. 2 shows the same opened.
A represents the wrapper in both figures, the wrapper in Fig. 1 being represented with the contents wrapped and inclosed therein, and
thus forming a small roll or package with a conundrum printed thereon in such a position as to catch the eye of a person looking at the roll or package, the wrapper being so folded as to conceal the answer.
Fig. 2 represents the Wrapper when opened and unfolded, showing both the conundrum and answer, the answer being printed in such a position that by folding the wrapper back, as shown in dotted line a, the answer will be concealed when the Wrapper is closed around its contents, while it can readily be brought into view when the wrapper is opened.

An improved wrapper for candies and other articles sold in small packages, having printed or placed thereon a conundrum, enigma, or riddle, and the answer thereto, in such relative positions that when the wrapper is placed in position around the article or articles the conundrum-enigma, or riddle is exposed to view and the answer concealed.
