RAZORBLADE HANDLE A'ATTACHMENT Eugene B. Miller, Chic-ago, Ill.-
Applicationy July 3, 1950, Serial- No.'171,963 f (Cl. Sil- 335) v 3 Claims.
My'invention relates to' razor blade handle at- I'acl'l'ments;`
An' in'ipcrtantv objectv of my invention is to provide arhandle forwremovablyl and interchangeably securing razor. blades theretooi the type.
thatlare Lused in ejector razors; vthe yblade being a long,l narrowtype of blade having one cutting edge andcne dullledge.v
Aflfurtlier-f-important object of my invention is to provide-' a 4'handle' having means Lwhereby l the cutting-#edge fof. the blade ffis- 4nick'ed by vpressure exertingY andY locking-meansso that the same will b`e :held f'r'lmly in place.'-
Afurther object 'of my Ainvention is to provide lockingledgesmeans'on a-flockingtumbler which isirurged into `pressure-Irelationship'byr a pressure locking--s-cremtthe said locking-tumbler being-provided:withkeymeans operating in keyway meansin thesaid 'handle structure in order to guide the same and maintain' it intransverse relationship toi the `cutting redge of a lblade "inserted intol the handle structure.-
A"stil1f1irther'object ofmy invention is to providela handl'eeattachment lfor razor blades of the aforementioned character which is simple in construction-andwhichfcan be 'manufactured economically in quantities.
Other objects, and ancillary advantages, inherent in -my` invention ywill become apparent from an examination of the accompanying drawings, bearing further eluci'dation'in the ensuing description; wherein like symbols are used to designate like parts, and in which;
Fig. l is affronty view'ofrmyginvention with certain portions thereof broken away in order to more clearly indicate, or illustrate, the elemental structure thereof.'
Fig. 2'is 'a transverse vcrosse'sectional view taken substantiallypnthe Ilines 2--2Lof Fig. 1.,
Fig. 3 is across-sectional :View: taken substantially onlines v3--3 of Fig.v 1.
Fig. 4 is a front view of the locking tumbler means showing its structure in detail.
Fig. 5 is a slightly modified form of my invention wherein spring pressure means is utilized in preference to screw pressure means.
Referring to the various views, my invention is generally designated 6 and consists of two handles 1 having rounded portions 8 at one end, and being secured in place by suitable screws or fastenings 9.
The forward part of the handle is provided with a recess I l) resulting from the particular structure of the two handle sections as indicated in Fig. 2. One handle section 8 has a lip portion I9,"A a lip. portion 2I, anintermediately'andrecessed portionzZIl.' The other handle 1 hascoma blade;generally "designatedl If and having;its
cutting .edge 'at I 2. The rear .edge thereof :being dull as indicatedyin; the cross-'sectional view in Fig. 2.v
The blade. II is insertedfinto. thefspaceor recess'IIl, one handle element-1 beinglprovided with a threaded 'portion'. I3xiny order to. receiveitheclamping screw. I6; which is vpreferably :formed: with an enlargedknurleheaded portion 122, to .per-

'Ihe said` screw`v forces ninto place` the-locking tumbler designated-15; whichgihas r two facets 33 terminating. :in a f-.bindingz edge I 5 binding edge I 5" is placed in transverserelationship: to the cutting edgel2of 1the blade The tumbler ,is confined torvertical movement when the pressure screw IG-is applied thereto, andY is l held in guidingalignment byvirtueof the keywayvlvinwhich the key-3I operates.l Thus when pressure isappliedv tothe screw the edge I5 will engage the edge -I2 and nick the samefasfindicated at lI'I thus holding the razor bladeI I firmly in ritsgripv andlocking engagement within the handle'l."
The modifiedform-indicated in Fi'g.f5 yis;pro videdy withvan additional recessed portion 23 mergingwith theguide opening-and key-way -for the locking tumbler 3Lil This lockingtumber 32 is lidentical in construction with'the one designated I5, and is provided with asemicylindrical equalizing .portion 26 y at v its bottom Aforfengagement byvl the f locating bent portion: 25 in the spring.. The=spring24fis-of suitable lengthandfis anchored by the rivets 2'! within the recess 23. The spring 24 is also provided with a pull portion 28 so as to permit flexing the spring downwardly when it is desired to remove the blade II.
In order to place a blade in assembly, the blade is slipped in as shown in Fig. l and the screw I6 is tightened nicking the blade and holding it securely in place. In order to insert or remove a blade from the modied structure indicated in Fig. 5, the spring portion 28 is grasped and the plunger is allowed to drop out of engagement with the blade, which allows the blade to be withdrawn.
Although I have herein described rather succinctly the nature and use of my invention so that persons skilled in the art will have no difiiculty apprising themselves of the teachings thereof and, inasmuch as the disclosure is susceptible of various alterations, modifications, and improvements, I hereby reserve the right to all modifications. alterations, and improvements falling within the scope and spirit of my invention, as well as any modifications that are embraced suggestively in the accompanying drawings, and any that may come within the purview of the foregoing description; my invention to be limited only by the appended claims.
Having thus disclosed and revealed my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
