((31. 248-$37- This invention relates to new and useful'im- In order properly to mount said arms,"a pair of hanger brackets, each carrying a hinge belt or. the like for engagement with one of the arms'at its innerend, must be precisely fixed in position.
In my co-pending application Ser'. No. 161,120, filed May 10, 1950, there is disclosed the combination of a pair of brackets and a pair of plate-like bracket supports, whereby, followingperm'anent securement of said supports to the building, and a rough preliminary adjustment of each bracket relative to its support, the final operation of efiecting a correctionary adjustment, as to either or both of said brackets relative to it's'support', is practicably had, thereby expeditiously and pre-- cisely to align the axis of the pivotal 'mounting of the inner end of one arm with the axis of the pivotal mounting of the inner end of the other arm.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide an improved combination of a pair of brackets and a pair of plate-like supports adapted for coaction as above; but an arrange ment such that a bracket may readily be attached to, detached from, or given any desiredcorrectionary adjustment relative to, its support, with.- out necessitating removal or displacement of the awning sheet roller.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and. to the appended claims in which the-various novel features of the invention are. more particularly set forth.

Said bracket 21, at its inner end, has a for-- war'dly extending recess providing a chamber. 28 which is vertically elongate with parallel long vertical side walls 29. The floor wall 30' of said chamber is slotted as at 3|. Extended through one of said side walls 29 is a set-screw 33.
Above the chamber 2-3 the said bracket 2|v is upwardly extended as asubstantially triangular base portion 34' rearwardly extended from which is a circular projection 35 having at its lower portion an undercut bevel 36'.
The said plate-like support 20 as shown is a rectangular metal plate having upstanding from-- the front thereof avertically elongated key or lug 31 having alowe'rportion 38 of reduced di:--- mension in a direction away from said: plate. Above the sai'dlug 31', said plate has a vertically elongated opening '39. The lower" portion of this opening is semi-circular and curved to a radiussubstantiall'y. equal to the radius of curvature 01' the circular projection 35 extended rearwardly from the bracket 2|. Also, said circularly curved lower portion of the opening 39 has an undercut bevel 40.
It will be noted that when the bevels 36 and 40 are hooked one over another so as to be engaged as in Fig. 5, the said circular projection is locked against withdrawal in a horizontal direction from the opening 39. It will also be noted that then the key or lug 31 is in the chamber 28, and with the entirety of said lug above the slot 3|, so that the reduced lower portion 38 of said lug cannot now interfere with a relative movement between the bracket 2| and said lug as efiected by rotation of the set-screw 33 or otherwise; This relative movement, as will further be noted, is a rotary one, due to the circular characteristics of the now inter-engaged bevels 3B and 40.
As further will be noted, the extent of vertical elongation of the opening 39 is such that the said circular projection 35 may be inserted into said opening in a horizontal direction, preparatory to lowering the bracket 2| relative to the support 28 for inter-engagement of the bevels 33 and 40. Also, in the same connection, it will be noted that the height of the reduced portion 38 of the lug 31, that is, the dimension of said portion 38 in a direction away from the plate 20,
is somewhat less than the length of the slot 3| 4 at the bottom of the chamber 28, so that, during an upward movement of the bracket 2| relative to the plate 20, the lug 31 at its said portion 38 may enter the slot 3|. Thereby said lug is prevented from coacting with the chamber 38 either to prevent coupling of the bracket and the plate together at the bevels 36 and 40 or to prevent uncoupling of the bracketand the plate at said bevels whenever desired.
Any suitable means, as the four lag bolts indicated at 4|, sent through apertures in the plate 28 near the four corners thereof, may be used for anchoring the plate. Suitably secured in place against rotary or other movement relative to the plate 20 and forwardly projected therefrom are two bolt shanks 42. The locations of these elements 42 relative to the opening 39 and also relative to the substantially triangular base portion 34 of the bracket 2| are as shown in Fig. 7.
For engaging the two downwardly convergingly extended sides of said base portion 34 two dogs 43 are provided. As shown in the case of the dog 43 of Fig. 8, each dog has a top flange 44 for lying over the said base portion 34, and also an aperture 45. With the dogs arranged as shown in Fig. '1, and with the bolt shanks 42 extended through the apertures of the dogs, nuts 46 may be tightened to clamp the bracket 2| immovably to hold said bracket exactly as the same has been adjusted with the inner end of the set-screw 33 in abutment against the adjacent side of the lug 31.
As will be noted from Fig. l, the dogs 43 may be readily applied, or detached, without disturbance of the roller I8 even when already in place; and, as will also be 'clear from the drawings, attachment of the bracket 2| to the plate 20 at the opening 39 in the plate, or detachment of the bracket from the plate at said opening, may be readily efiected, likewise without disturbance of the roller l8 even when already in place.
. While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is. to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifica- 4 tions coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. A device for pivotally mounting the inner end of an awning arm to be located adjacent to one end of an awning roller, comprising a main member, means for securing said main member fixedly in place, a hanger bracket for said arm end, and means including undercut bevels one on said main member and the other on the bracket for permitting downward booking of the upper portion of the bracket onto said main member thereby to interengage the bracket and said main member, means partially carried by said main member and partially carried by the bracket for swingably adjusting the bracket while maintaining said interengagement, and means for coacting with said bevels for clamping the bracket as adjusted relative to said main member.
2. A device for pivotally mounting the inner end of an awning arm to be located adjacent to one end of an awning roller, comprising a main member, means for securing said main member fixedly in place, a hanger bracket for said arm end, and means including undercut bevels one on said main member and the other on the bracket for permitting downward hooking of the upper portion of the bracket onto said main member thereby to interengage the bracket and said main member, means partially carried by said main member and partially carried by the bracket for swingably adjusting the bracket while maintaining said interengagement, and means for coacting with said bevels for clamping the bracket as adjusted relative to said main member, said main member or said bracket having an opening and the other having a projection shaped for entry into said opening, said bevels being respectively carried by said opening and by said projection.
3. A device for pivotally mounting the inner end of an awning arm to be located adjacent to one end of an awning roller, comprising a main member, means for securing said main member fixedly in place, a hanger bracket for said arm end, and means including undercut bevels one on said main member and the other on the bracket for permitting downward hooking of the upper portion of the bracket onto said main member thereby to interengage the bracket and said main member, means partially carried by said main member and partially carried by the bracket for swingably adjusting the bracket while maintaining said interengagement, and
means for coacting with said bevels for clamping the bracket as adjusted relative to said main member, said main member having a vertically elongated opening the lower end portion of which is substantially arcuately curved, one of said bevels being at the said lower end portion of said opening, the bracket having a rearwardly extended projection shaped for entry into. said opening, and the other of said bevels being at the lower portion of said projection.
4. A device for pivotally mounting the inner end of an awning arm to be located adjacent to one end of an awning roller, comprising a main member, means for securing said main member fixedly in place, a hanger bracket for said arm end, and means including undercut bevels one on said main member and the other on the bracket for permitting downward hooking of the upper portion of the bracket onto said main member thereby to interengage the bracket and said main member, means partially carried by said main member and partially carried by the bracket for swingably adjusting the bracket while maintaining said interengagement, and means for coaoting with said bevels for clamping the bracket as adjusted relative to said main memher, said main member having a. vertically elongated opening the lower end portion of which is substantially arcuately curved, one of said bevels being at the said lower end portion of said opening, the bracket having a rearwardly extended projection shaped for entry into said opening, and the other of said bevels being at the lower portion of said projection, said lower portion of said projection being substantially arcuately extended and curved to substantially the same radius of curvature as that of said lower end portion of said opening.
5. A device for pivotally mounting the inner end of an awning arm to be located adjacent to one end of an awning roller, comprising a main member, means for securing said main member fixedly in place, a hanger bracket for said arm end, and means including undercut bevels one on said main member and the other on the bracket for permitting downward hooking of the upper portion of the bracket onto said main member thereby to interengage the bracket and said main member, means partially carried by said main member and partially carried by the bracket for swingably adjusting the bracket while maintaining said interengagement, and means for coaoting with said bevels for clamping the bracket as adjusted relative to said main member, said main member having a vertically elongated opening the lower end portion of which is substantially arcuately curved, one of said bevels being at the said lower end portion of said opening, the bracket having a rearwardly extended substantially circular projection shaped for entry into said opening, the other of said bevels being at the lower portion of said projection, said adjusting means including a chamber in the bracket, a vertically elongated lug projected from said main member for reception in said chamber, and a set-screw on the bracket for engaging a side of said lug.
6. A device for pivotally mounting the inner end of an awning arm to be located adjacent to one end of an awning roller, comprising a main member, means for securing said main member fixedly in place, a hanger bracket for said arm end, and means including undercut bevels one on said main member and the other on the bracket for permitting downward hooking of the upper portion of the bracket onto said main member thereby to interengage the bracket and said main member, means partially carried by said main member and partially carried by the bracket for 6 swingably adjusting the bracket while maintaining said interengagement, and means for 00-- acting with said bevels for clamping the bracket as adjusted relative to said main member, said main member having a vertically elongated opening the lower end portion of which is substantially arcuately curved, one of said bevels being at the said lower end portion of said opening, the bracket having a rearwardly extended substantially circular projection shaped for entry into said opening, the other of said bevels being at the lower portion of said projection, said adjusting means including a chamber in the bracket, a vertically elongated lug projected from said main member for reception in said chamber, and a set-screw on the bracket for engaging a side of said lug, said chamber having a bottom opening and the lower portion of said lug being shaped for entry into said bottom opening incidental to insertion of said projection into the upper portion of the first-named open- 7. A device for pivotally mounting the inner end of an awning arm to be located adjacent to one end of an awning roller, comprising a main member, means for securing said main member fixedly in place, a hanger bracket for said arm end, and means including undercut bevels one on said main member and the other on the bracket for permitting downward hooking of the upper portion of the bracket onto said main member thereby to interengage the bracket and said main member, means partially carried by said main member and partially carried by the bracket for swingably adjusting the bracket while maintaining said interengagement, and means for coaoting with said bevels for clamping the bracket as adjusted relative to said main member, said main member having a vertically elongated opening the lower end portion of which is substantially arcuately curved, one of said bevels being at the said lower end portion of said opening, the bracket having a rearwardly extended substantially circular projection shaped for entry into said opening, the other of said bevels being at the lower portion of said projection, said adjusting means including a chamber in the bracket, a vertically elongated lug projected from said main member for reception in said chamber, and a set-screw on the bracket for engaging a side of said lug, the bracket having above said chamber a substantially triangular base portion near the top of which is said projection, and said clamping means including a pair of clamping dogs each for engaging an opposite side marginal portion of said base portion below said projection.
