It' is an object of" the inventionto provide a newcand novel suction cleaner'casing.` Another object is to provide a cleaner casing having a skeleton frame to support the relatively heavy parts of the suction cleaner mechanism. A further object is to provide a skeleton frame-for a cleaner casing having a'cover therefor'ofmetallic and non-metallic materials. Another object of theinvention is to provide a cleanerv casing having a skeleton framek and a non-metallic'J cover therefor which is formed directly about the frame andiattached thereto. 4Other objectsfand advantages of the invention will be apparent fromV the following specification and drawings` wherein'z' Figure l is a sectional view ofjithev cleaner. cas;u 111g;

The embodiment of the invention herein disclosed comprises a casing lil having a skeleton frame includingatop side member Il of channel shape and two angle shaped bottom side members' I2 and I3. Theforward ends ofthe side members lare welded to the wallsof recesses I4, l5, and |16 ina. flange Il of anV L.shaped front end member 'and'lie flush with the vertical Wall I9,
while the rear ends of the side members' extend beyond an L-shaped rear endmember 1Z0 andare secured thereto-in walls of recesses similar to those in the frontend member. Between theend members I 5 and 20 is a transverse member 22 which is secured to the side frame members Il, l2, and I3' and forms with-the end members the frame-structure for a motor-elflamberl 23- and4 a suction chamber 24. The cover for the skeleton frame includes a metallic bottom plate 25 having a flat portion 25 and-upstanding marginal flanges 21 and 28 to cover the area between the bottom side frame members I2 and I3 and the remaining portion of the frame is enclosed by a non-metallic cover 30. The cover 3i! is attached to the frame by heating a sheet of non-metallic'material and then placing it about the frame and forming it to the contour of the frame. Thereafter the marginal edges 3I-3l of the cover 30 are placed between the 2- side frame members IZ4 and` I3 andi thee bottom plate 25, and thelatterandthe-'cover 30.'.zanfeese-4 cured to the sideirame membersv |2- andi |3355 means'of apluralityof rivets 33.

Disposed in the motor chamber 23 isa motor.- fan unit 6E), the forwardend of -which seatszin a resilient ring 6| mounted upon the intermediate member 22. The rear end of the motor-fan unit is mounted in a resilient ring 63 which seats in a spider member 64 attached to the vertical wall 65 of the rear end member 20 by bolts extending through openings B6 in the vertical wall 65.
In attaching the intermediate member 22 and spider 64 to the side frame member Il, l2, and I3, the vibration of the motor-fan unit is not transmitted to the non-metallic cover 30.
Openings are provided in the top side frame member Il for receiving bolts 'H to attach a handle 12 to the frame member so that the weight of the cleaner when it is lifted oi the floor is transmitted to the skeleton frame structure. A boss 'I4 is formed on the top frame member Il to which a swtch 15 is mounted. Holes 16 are provided in the metal bottom plate for attaching to the latter a pair of cleaner supporting skids 11.
We claim:
1. In a suction cleaner casing, a skeleton frame having a plurality of spaced side members extending longitudinally of the casing, an end frame member attached to opposite end portions of said side members to space and support the latter, an intermediate transverse member between said end frame members and attached to said side frame members to form a motor chamber and dust chamber, a cover encircling said frame members to enclose the latter, and an end cover for each end of said frame to complete the cleaner casing.
2. In a suctionpleaner casing, a skeleton frame having a plurality of spaced side members, one of said members extending along the top of the casing, an end frame member attached to opposite end portions of said side members to space and support the latter, means on said top member for supporting a cleaner carrying handle and an electric switch, a cover encircling said frame members to enclose the latter, and an end cover for each end of said frame to complete the cleaner casing.
3. In a suction cleaner casing, a skeleton frame having a plurality of spaced side members extending longitudinally of the casing, an end frame member attached to opposite end portions of said side members to space and support the latter, one of .said end frame members having means to support a motor, an intermediatetransverse member between said end frame members and 'attached to said side frame members toform a motor chamberA and dust chamber, a cover encircling said frame members to enclose the latter and attached thereto, and an end cover for each end of said frame to complete the cleaner casing.
4. In a suction cleaner casing, a skeleton frame having a plurality of spaced side members ez'- tending longitudinally of the casing, an end frame member attached to opposite end portions of said .side members to space and support the latter, an
intermediate transverse member between said end frame members and attached to said side `irame members to form a motor chamber and dust chamber, said intermediate transverse member and one of said end members having means to support a motor therebetween, a cover encircling said frame members to enclose the latter and attached thereto, and an end cover for each end of said frame to complete the cleaner casing.
5. In a suction cleaner casing, a skeleton frame having a plurality of spaced side frame members, transverse members connected with said side members to form a self supporting frame structure, a filter within the ccnnes of said frame, a cover for said frame including metallic and non-metallic portions cooperating to enclose said frame, filter shaking mechanism mounted on said metallic cover portion, and cleaner casing supporting means also mounted on said metallic cover portion, whereby said non-metallic cover portion is not subjected to the stresses applied to said bag shaking mechanism and casing supporting means.
6. In a suction cleaner casing, a skeleton frame having a plurality of spaced side members extending longitudinally of the casing, an end frame member attached to opposite end portions of said side members to space and support the latter, an intermediate transverse member between said end frame members and attached to said side frame members, said intermediate transverse member and one of said end frame members having means to support a motor therebetween, and a cover for said frame including metallic and non-metallic portions cooperating to enclose said frame.

8. In a. suction cleaner casing, a skeleton frame having a plurality of spaced side members extending,r longitudinally of the casing, transverse members connected with said side members to form a self supporting frame structure, a filter within the confines of said frame, a cover for said self supporting frame to enclose the latter and said lter, and lter shaking mechanism movably mounted on said cover and connected to said filter.
