UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
ELIAS H. LOC/KE, OF TROY, ALABAMA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO FRANK BALTZELL, OF SAME PLAGE.
DENTISTS FLASK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent hTo." 258,858, dated May 80, 188,2.
Application filed October 10, 1881. (No model.) Y
To all whom it may concern:
bama, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dentists Flasks; and I do herebydeclare that the following is afull, clear,
and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, ref'- erence being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which-#- Figure l is a perspective view of my improved ilask. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of same. Fig. 3 is a top view ofthe iask empty, with the top plate removed; and Fig. 4 is a perspective view ofthe jointed central ring detached.
Similar letters of reference indicate-corresponding parts in all theiigures.
My invention contemplates a certain iinprovement in dentistsliasks for molding artilicial teeth to Celluloid .or rubber dentures, as hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the annexed drawings, A is the bottom part ot' the liask, which is made with two ears or uprights, B B, arranged opposite to one another.
O is the middle part, which is in the shape of a ring, in two parts, C and C2, each part being provided with a pair of projecting lugs, b
' b, which, when the ring is placed in position upon the bottom part, A, clamp the uprights B B of the latter, and thus prevent displace ment of the ring. The parts C and G2 arejointed by hinges D D', the pins d d'of one or both of which are removable, so that by withdrawing either one of the pins from its knuckle the ring may readily be opened.
E is the cover or top plate of the ilask, which is provided with lugs or projectionsP I on its under side, registering with notches N N inthe upper rim ofthe top ring, C3, which is placed on top of the middle ring C C2 for holding it in its proper position and preventing accidental displacement.
As is Well known, the dentures are molded and baked in plaster, with which the flask is lled, and which hardens during the process of baking in the mufde, so that it has to be carefully removed from the denture, when complete, byhammering, chiseling, &c. By making the center piece of the mold or ring C C' with the hinges DD', constructed as described, this part, which contains the denture embedded in its plaster mold, can be opened after the top angl bottom parts, E and A, have been reremoved, so that the cake vof plaster Within it can readily be taken out and the denture removed from its plaster envelope without chiseling orI hammering it out of the ring, as in cases where this is in a solid piece, thereby avoiding all danger ot' breaking or chipping the teeth or'plate.l
Having thus described my improvement, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States-- A dentists ask consi-still g ot' the solid bottom A', having uprights B B, the middle ring G, consisting of two parts, O"C2, having lugs b, and connected by hinges D D', having removable knuckle-pins d, the top ring, G3, having notches N, and the detachable top E,hav ing projections I, all arranged and operating substantially as and for the purpose set iorth.
ln testimony that I claim the foregoing as my'own I have hereunto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses. v
