Description
Feb. 26, 1952 A. c. FUENTES SANITARY NAPKIN PROTECTOR Filed Aug. 10, 1950 lNVENTOR Patented Feb. 26, 1952 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SANITARY NAPKIN PROTECTOR Alicia Campos Fuentes, New York, N. Y.
Application August 10, 1950, Serial No. 178,630
2 Claims.
Theinvention relates to a protector for use with externally worn sanitary napkins having a gauze tab end attached to each end for attachment to an elastic sanitary belt by pinning or other means well known to those skilled in the art, and the objects of the invention are, first, to provide a reliable means of protecting the clothing from stain and damage; second, to provide this protection with a minimum of discomfort, bulk, or expense to the user.
One form of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a top view of the protector with sanitary napkin in place, Figure 2, a bottom view of the protector, with sanitary napkin in place, and Figure 3, a vertical sectional view of the protector with sanitary napkin in place taken along line 3-3 of Figure 1.
In Figure 1, side A, which is made flexible, moisture proof plastic material, is shown. Side A" is slotted at a and 'bto form loop f, and at c and d, to form loop 9. In Figure 2, side B is made of mercerized cotton material and is slotted at a, b, c, and d, in a manner similar to side A in Figure 1. As indicated by symbol i, in Figures 1, 2 and 3, sides A and B are then joined together all around the outer perimeter by use of the overlock stitch.
To use the protector D, the sanitary napkin E is placed on side A, the plastic side of the protector. The tabs of the sanitary napkin, e and h,
are inserted through slots b and 0, under loops f and g, and brought out through slots a and b respectively. Tabs e and h then may be secured ible sheet of material, a fabric sheet of the same size and shape, the two sheets being coin-cidently secured together by an overlook stitch around the outer perimeter of the two sheets, and a pair of parallel slots disposed in each of the two'end portions across the width thereof and adjacent the ends of the protector as the means of securing a sanitary napkin of the type havingtwo gauze tab ends to the protector by the insertion of the respective sanitary napkin tabs through both slots in the pairs of slots in the respective end portions of the protector.
2. A protector for a sanitarynapkin of the type having two gauze tab ends, said protector comprising: a moisture proof, flexible sheet of material having an outline generally conforming to the outline of the napkin; a fabric sheet of the same size and shape, the two sheets coincidently secured together by stitching extending around the perimeter of the two sheets, thereby producing a finished edge, a pair of tranverse slots disposed in each end of th protector, the slots adapted to have the respective tab end of the napkin inserted therethrough to secure the sanitary napkin to the protector, the end of each tab extending past the slots for attachment to a sanitary belt.
