Description

Feb. 5, 1952 HANSEN ORNAMENTAL HOUSE NUMBER Filed Feb. 9, 1950 Fig- 3.
Daniel F Hansen INVENTOR.
Patented Feb. 5, 1952 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 3 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in display devices and the primary object of the present invention is to provide a combined flower holder and house number bearing plate.
Another important object of the present invention is to provide a small and compact wire frame that is quickly and readily applied to or removed from the side of a house to display the street number of the house and which also embodies a pair of hooks for supporting flower holding receptacles.
A further object of the present invention is the provision of a display device having a fastener receiving yoke together with abutment means associated with the yoke to prevent swinging of the device in response to wind against the device.
A still further object of the present invention is to provide an ornamental house number display device that is simple and practical in construction, strong and reliable in use, neat and attractive in appearance, inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of a house and showing the present invention applied thereto;
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken substantially on the plane of section line 22 of Figure 1; and
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the present invention.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration, there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numeral represents a wire frame member including a pair of downwardly and outwardly inclined side portions l2 and I4 that terminate in downwardly and inwardly inclined lower side portions [6 and I8.
Forwardly projecting, spaced parallel, horizontal disposed arms and 22 extend laterally from the lower ends of the side portions [6 and I8. Vertically disposed hooks 24 and 26 project laterally from the arms 20 and 22. The hooks 24 and 26 are offset from the upper and lower side portions l2, I4 and [6, I8 and receive the eye ends 28 and 30 of hanger chains 32 and 34 that support conical receptacles 36 and 3B.
- Flower 40 and 42 are positioned in the receptacles 36 and 38.
A yoke or loop 44 rises from and joins the uper ends of the side portions l2 and I4. The yoke 44 receives a fastener 46 that enters the side 01' a house 48 in order to support the frame member 10. Abutment pins 50 enter the side of the house and receive the yoke 44 therebetween to prevent swinging of the frame member ID.
The upper and lower flanges 52 and 54 of an indicia bearing plate 56 are provided with open ings that receive the lower side portions I6 and it. The plate 56 is provided on its forward face with numerals and the ends of the plate 56- are preferably slotted to form ornamental projections 58.
In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.
It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A display device comprising a wire frame member including a pair of side portions joined by a yoke, an indicia bearing plate joining said side portions and spacing said side portions, arms projecting laterally and horizontally from said side portions and supporting said plate, hooks depending from said arms, and hanger means depending from said hooks and adapted for supporting flower receptacles.
2. The combination of claim 1, wherein said hooks are disposed laterally of said arms.
3. A display device comprising awire frame member including a pair of vertically disposedside portions and a yoke joining the upper ends of said side portions, a horizontal plate connecting and spacing said side portions, said plate including' upper and lower apertured flanges through which said side portions project, horizontal arms, projecting horizontally from the lower ends of said side portions and constituting stops for limiting downward sliding movement of the plate on the side portions, and hooks depending from the arms and paralleling the plate.
