Patented Feb. 5, 1952 UNITED STATES TENT OFFICE GARBAGE DISPOSAL AND SINK SOIL FITTING -1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to a garbage disposal and sink soil fitting.
An object of the invention is the provision of a unique fitting which will save labor when installing a certain type of plumbing, together with saving many assorted fittings heretofore required, and which will eliminate cutting of timber, as well as making it possible for the plumbing to be easily installed adjacent to windows.
Another object of the invention is the construction of a novel fitting which is easy for the moulder to produce, as well as highly efiicient when installing the fitting in a finished job.
Astill further object is the construction of a novel fitting whereby the installation of the plumbing will miss the window frame, thereby eliminating cutting of timber or other wood construction, while at the same time producing a highly modern finished job in a first-class manner.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, this invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a fitting constructed in accordance with this invention, showing the fitting in actual assembly with the elements of plumbing for which the fitting is peculiarly constructed.
Figure 2 is a front elevation of the fitting.
Referring to the drawings, in which the preferred embodiment of this invention is illustrated, l designates the fitting, which comprises a lower rectilinear cylindrical portion 2 that has on its bottom a bead or annular flange 3. From the upper end of the portion there extends upwardly a laterally curved portion 4 and just below the junction of the portions 2 and 4 the fitting has a laterally extending and upwardly inclined rectilinear portion 5. The axes of the portions 2, 4 and 5 lie in' the same plane, the plane being vertical upon installation of the fitting. The portion 4 bows centrally from the portion 5 and the portions 4 and 5 converge at their upper portions and are integrally connected. On the integrally connected ends of portions 4 and 5 are integral hubs 6; these hubs 6 are positioned at an angle to a horizontal plane for excellently accommodating the vent pipes 1. These vent pipes l are positioned under the window 8, without cutting any of the wood structure. The vent pipes I communicate with a common vertical vent pipe 9.
0n the same side of the fitting I is a sink inlet I0, a disposal grinder inlet I I, and a plug inlet l2. A sink pipe l3 communicates with the sink inlet It. The inlets II and I2 are formed in an outwardly bulging portion 14. The pipe [5 leading from the electric garbage disposal grinder 16 enters the inlet I l as shown. In the plug inlet 12 a plug I1 is placed, this plug usually projecting beyond the finished wall I 8, Fig. 1.
In moulding the fitting the plug inlet l2, as well as the sink inlet [0, assists in supporting the fitting. Therefore, it will be seen that these side inlets perform dual functions, to wit, they assist in producing the fitting, as well as in the utility thereof in the general assembly.
While I have described the preferred embodiment of the invention and illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain minor changes or alterations may appear to one skilled in the art to which this invention relates during the extensive manufacture of the same, and I, therefore, reserve the right to make such changes or alterations as shall fairly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
In an integral pipe fitting for use in connection with multiple sinks, a lower rectilinear pipe portion, a, second pipe portion extending upwardly from the upper end of the lower portion and curved laterally therefrom, and a third pipe por tion extending diagonally upward from the lower portion at a point below the junction of the lower portion and the second pipe portion, said pipe portions having their axes in the same plane and the second pipe portion being bowed away from the third pipe, said second and third pipe portions being united integrally at their upper ends and provided with a hub leading to the second pipe portion and a hub leading to the third pipe portion, and said third pipe portion and said lower pipe portion each having a lateral opening at its upper end.
