i is an bj ct of th present in n t .pr vide an attachment for a broom handle adapted for applyin floor wax to the floor for the purpose of being spread thereover and to polish the floor and wherein the attachment upon being removed will leave the broom free for its ordinary use, the attachment having a mop extending therefrom so that without the use of the wax the attachment can be used as a mop, a handle portion extending from the attachment for the use of the same free of the broom handle.

Other objects of the present invention are to provide a combined mop, broom and floor polishing arrangement which is of simple construction, easy to assemble, inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in operation.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a sectional view, in elevation, taken through a broom and through the floor polishing and mop unit.

Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the broom and mop unit assembled as shown in Fig. 1.

Referring now to the figures, I5 represents a broom having bristles l6 and a handle ll eX tending upwardly therefrom. To the rear side of the main body of the broom l5 two plates l8 are secured by screws i9. Stud bolts 2| carried by the plates 18 and thumb nuts 22 thereon, provide means for securing a connecting member or bracket 23 of U-shape to the brush body. The member 23 has a bracket portion which extends upwardly and which has a sleeve formation 21 through which handle I1 extends.

The attachment it includes a bottom member 3! adapted to be extended against a flange 32 of a casing 33 for the securement of mop trailings 34 thereto. A plate 35 extends over the member 3| and has a trough 350 which extends through its longitudinal center and is provided with central holes 36 extending throughout the length of the trough and the trough is adapted to receive wax from a container 38 disposed above the plate 35 in a member 39 which is connected by screws with the casing 33 it being noted that the bottom member 3| is connected to the casing 33 in a similar manner. The member 33 is provided with a central opening 390 which receives the neck portion 380 of the container 38. A regulating valve 4| extends above a valve seat 42 at the upper end of the neck portion 380 and the flow of wax from the vessel 38 can be controlled. The wax-will flow through space 44 and into the holes or openings 36. A filler cap 41 is disposed on top cover 48. The plate 35 is shaped to have portions high at the center of the same and sloping to the side so that a portion of the wax will flow laterally before passing through small central openings 36.

On the face of the attachment 25 is a bracket 5| in which a handle socket 52 may be adjusted and retained by a clamping member 53 in its adjusted position. When the attachment 24 is to be used independently of the brush or broom the handle i! of the broom or brush is connected to the attachment through the medium of the bracket 52, as shown in Figure 9.

In operation the brush can be used alone as illustrated in Fig. 8 free of the polisher attachment or the polisher attachment can be used free of the broom. If desired, the polisher attachment 25 is connected to the broom through the member 23 and a bracket portion extending upwardly therefrom and receiving the broom handle H. The broom handle ll is used when the attachment is connected to the broom. Accordingly a sweeping and polishing action can be effected simultaneously. The wax can be caused to flow in the necessary quantities to cover the floor and this wax will be spread and rubbed down by the mop 34.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.

bers and the plate to the casing, valve means carried by said container, means extending through the container to operate said valve means from the top of the container exterior-1y 4 thereof, and said valve means coacting with the neck portion of said container to control the flow of wax from the container to the trough in the plate, a high portion in the bottom of the trough directly beneath the opening in the upper member for receiving the wax as it is dispensed through the opening whereby the wax will be caused to move laterally and downwardly toward the ends of the trough in the lower portion of the plate.
