UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHESTER L. WENTWORTH, OF MOUNT VISION, NEW YORK.
TOOL-CARRIER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 258,178, dated May 1e, 1882. Application nien 'March 1s, 1882. (Model.)
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHESTER L. WENT- WORTH, ot' Mount Vision, in the county of Otsego and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in `TooLCarriers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a device which may be readily attached to and removed from the under side of the seat or other part of a wagon for the purpose of carrying an oil-can and such tools as are liable to be needed by a teainster.
The invention consists in a metallic plate or frame of novel construction, provided with a curved bar and a series of set-screws for hold-V ingin place between said plate and barthe tools usually carried by a teamster, and providing for ready access thereto when desired, as hereinafter more particularly described.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this speciiication, in which similar letters of reference indicate co1'- responding parts in all the figures.
, Figure lis a plan view ot' the apparatus, and Fig. 2 a section taken in thc line x x of Fig. 1. l
A represents a metal plate ot' any suitable shape and size, provided with holes a for the reception of thumbscrews B. C is a bar heving its ends attached to said plate, and the portion between the ends curved in suitable form to admit between them an oil-can, D, a wrench, E, and a pick, G, for removing stones and dirt picked up by the horse between the shoe and the frog in traveling, or such other tools as may be desired. The bar C is provided with screw-threaded holes for the engagement of set-screws H, which may be turned by a wrench or by hand. The plate thus `constructed is attached to the under side of the seat, or any other suitable portion of a wagon, by means ot' the thumb-screws B, and may be readily vdetached when desired. The oilcan and tools are heldin place by the pressure upon them of the points of the set-screws H.
The advantages of' my invention are: It is cheap and simple in construction, and is strong and durable. It is easily attached ,and detached. ,The tools are always in place and easily accessible whenever needed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and Letters Patent, is A 1. As an improved article ot' manufacture, a toolcarrier consisting of a frame composed of a plate, A, and bar O, adapted to be attached to a wagon seat or body, and provided with means for holding in place an oil-can and atool or tools, substantially as herein described.
2. The combination, with the plate A and the bar G, provided with screw-threaded holes,
desire to secure by ofthe set-screws Hfor holding the tools in place, as shown and described.
3. The combination, with the plate A, provided with the holes a, of the thumb-screws B for attaching the apparatus to a Wagon seat or body, as herein shown and described.
