Referring to the drawings, the oot comprises a pair of parallel vertically disposed sets of toggle links I and 2 each set having crossed members Ia, Ib, 2a and 2b, respectively. These links are pivotally joined at their bottoms by pins 3 and 4 which are xed in the respective ends of crossbars 5. Similarly, the centers of the links are pivotally joined by pins 5 and 'i fixed in the ends of cross-bars 8. The upper ends of the links are pivotally joined by pins 9 and It having eyes 9a and Illa, respectively, at their inner ends and enlarged outer ends as at 9b and Ib, Fig. 5.

It should be noted that when the canvas I I is limp, the inner ends of the adjacent pairs of springs I4, or springs I5, pull together along arcs the centers of which lie in the eyes 9a (or Illa). Therefore, in this position the lateral distance across the canvas II between the grommets I Ia and the grommets I Id is decreased to relieve the tension on the opposed springs. Conversely, when the canvas is longitudinally tightened, the adjacent grommets I Ic, or I Id, are pulled apart so that the angle between adjacent springs, which are connected at their outer ends to the same eye, is increased so that the springs are all stretched tightly to laterally tension the canvas Il. By this means, the canvas is relaxed when the cot is folded so that it will not be permanently stretched by a continuous tension.

I do not limit my invention to the exact form shown in the drawings, for obviously changes may be made within the scope of the claims,

I claim: k

1. A folding cot comprising a longitudinally extensible frame including parallel lazy-tong side members connected together; an eyelet fixed to each upper lazy-tong joint; a fabric sheet suse pended at its ends on said frame to be stretched lengthwise as said frame is moved into extended position, and said sheet having along each side a series of pairs of longitudinally spaced grommeted holes, the mid-point of the spacing between the holes of each pair lying opposite an eyelet; and tensioning means comprising pairs of tension springs, the springs of each pair having their outer ends fixed in an eyelet and their inner ends respectively xed in one hole of each associated pair of holes.

A folding cot comprising a longitudinally extensible frame including parallel lazy-tong side members connected together; an eyelet fixed to each upper lazy-tong joint; a fabric sheet suspended at its ends on said frame to be stretched lengthwise as said frame is moved into extended position, and said sheet having along each side a series of pairs of longitudinally spaced grommetedholes, the mid-point of the spacing between the holes of each pair lying opposite an eyelet; and tensioning means comprising pairs of tension springs, the springs of each pair having their outer ends xed in an eyelet and their inner ends respectively xed in one hole of each associated pair of holes, the spacing between the holes of a pair and the characteristics of the springs being so chosen as to cause tensioning of the springs when the cot is opened up for use and the inner ends of the springs are separated by said spacing, and to allow relaxation of said tension when the cot is folded.

A folding cot comprising a longitudinally extensiblev frame including parallel lazy-tong side members connected together; an eyelet iixed to each upper lazy-tong joint; a fabric sheet suspended at its ends on said frame to be stretched lengthwise as said frame is moved into extended position, and said sheet having along `each side a series of pairs of longitudinally spaced grommeted holes; and tensioning means comprising` pairs of tension springs, the springs of each pair having their outer ends xed in an eyelet and their inner ends respectively xed in one hole of each associated pair of holes,the midpoint of the spacing between each two grommeted holes 4 in the canvas when stretched lying opposite to an eyelet and such two holes being each separated from such eyelet by a distance greater than the relaxed length of the spring connecting the hole and eyelet.

A folding cot comprising a longitudinally extensible frame including parallel side members connectedtogether; a row of eyelets longitudinally spaced when the frame is extended and fixed along each side member near the top thereof, the eyelets of each row facing inwardly of the frame; a fabric sheet suspended at its ends on said frame and adapted to be stretched lengthwise when said frame is moved into extended position; longitudinal fabric strips aiixed to the said sheet at the respective sides thereof, said strips having longitudinal series of pairs of longitudinally spaced grommeted holes therein, the mid-points of the spacing between the holes of each pair lying opposite an eyelet; and tensioning means comprising pairs of tension springs, the springs of each pair having their outer ends fixed in an eyelet and their inner ends respectively fixed in one hole of each associated pair of holes.

5. A folding cot comprising a longitudinally extensible frame including parallel side members connected together; a row of eyelets longitudinally spaced when the frame is extended and fixed along each side member near the top thereof, the eyelets of each row facing inwardly of the frame; a fabric sheet suspended at its ends on said frame and adapted to be stretched lengthn wise when said frame is moved into extended position, and said sheet having along each side a series of pairs of longitudinally spaced grommeted holes, the mid-points of the distances between the holes of each pair lying opposite an eyelet; and tensioning means comprising pairs of tension springs, the springs of each pair having their outer ends fixed in an eyelet and their inner ends respectively fixed in one hole of each associated pair of holes.
