Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID RENSHAW, OFCOHASSET, AND GEORGE B. N. TOWER, OF BOSTON, SAID TOWER ASSIGNOR TO SAID RENSHAW, SAID RENSHAW ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO HARVEYT. LITOHFIELD, OF HULL, MASSACHUSETTS.
INJ ECTOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 257,897, dated May 16, 1882.
. Application filed January 14, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, DAVID RENSHAW, of Gohasset, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, and GEORGE B. N. TOWER,
ot' Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State aforesaid, have invented certain newand useful processes for returning exhaust-steam to boilers aud machinery for accomplishing the same, which processes and devices are fully 1e set forth in the following specification.
The object of this invention is the production of an improved injector, which is more particularly designed Jfor use in and with the C processes ot' utilizing exhaust-steam.
The nature ot the invention consists in the production of an injector suitably constructed for the return of steam or gases to the place from which they emanated.
Figure 1 represents a horizontal section ot' of the device; Fig. 2, a vertical section 5 Fig. 3, a modification.
Arepresents achamber, into which the gases to be injected are received through an opening, B.
C is a nozzle, here shown as tapering outwardly and leading to an accumulator, Dg-but it may be made tapering` inwardly and lead directly into the receptacle into which it is desired to deliver the gases.
E is the delivery-passage. Inclosed in the chamber A is the ring G, supported by tubular spurs G', as shown in Fig. 2, which is a sectional view taken on line zz of Fig. l. This ring incloses a tube, H, expanded into the lmouth at, beyond, or within the mouth of the tube K; or it may be entirely removed from the tube K.
N shows a water-jet entering into the nozzle C".
What is claimed as the invention is 1. In an injector, the ring G, provided with a chamber, a, in combination with the tube H, thepassages c c, and the exit or mouth d.
2. In an injector, the combination of the steam-chamber J, adjustable tube M, tube K, and ring G, constructed as described, substan tially as and for the purpose set forth.-
3. In an injector, the combination of the chamber A, the ring G, constructed as described, thetube H, tubes K and M, and the tapering nozzle C, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
