2 Claims. (Cl. 240-71) According to the present invention only a small number of simple parts are employed and current may be supplied the lamp of the search light in all positions of adjustment.
The accompanying drawings show, for purposes of illustrating the present invention, an embodiment in which the invention may take form, it being understood that the drawings are illustrative of the invention rather than limiting the same.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a toy work car provided with the search light;
Figure 2 is a front elevational view of the search light showing the supporting and current supply devices in section;
Figure 3 is a side elevational view with parts in section on the line 3-3 of Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a sectional view on the line 4-4 of Figure 2; and
Figure 5 is a fragmentary rear elevation.
A toy railroad car such as indicated at ID has a platform H apertured as indicated at [2. A post or pedestal 13, made of metal, has a reduced end l4 revolvably received in the aperture l2 and threaded at l5 for a nut I6. The post is bifurcated at |3a and I3!) and has two holes I! opposite one another.
The search light body I8 is in the form of a metal turning shaped to simulate the body of a large search light. It has an axial drilling I9, a threaded socket 20 and a bulb receiving recess M. A flanged insulating bushing 22 is received in the drilling I9. A knob member 23 extends through a conducting spring 24, insulating strip 25, the bushing 22 and a washer 26 and is upset as shown at 21 to form a center contact for the lamp 30.
The mouth of the search light body is closed by a transparent cover 3 I, such as a piece of methacrylate snapped into place. The body I8 is supported on trunnions 33 which pass through the holes ll in the post.
The platform ll insulatedly supports a spring 34 hearing on the lower end of a pin 35 extending up through an insulating sleeve 36 in the post or pedestal l3 and holds the upper end 31 of the pin against the lower end of spring 24 so that current may be supplied the lamp irrespective of the position to which the post is adjusted about a vertical axis, or the elevation or depression of the search light body. The spring extends toward the open end of the search light body and its end, as well as the end of the insulating strip 25, enter an insulating bushing 38. The search light beam can be raised or lowered by swinging the body l8 about on the trunnions 33. The contact 24 is long enough to be opposite the pin 35 in all positions of the body l8. The bifurcations l3a and |3b of the pedestal l3 are close to the body so that when it is swung up or down the beam side of the body strikes the front or rear of the bifurcations so as to limit the tilting of the search light body. This is indicated by the dotted line position of the search light body in Figure 5.
Since it is obvious that the invention may be embodied in other forms and constructions within the scope of the claims, I wish it to be understood that the particular form shown is but one of these forms, and various modifications and changes being possible, I do not otherwise limit myself in any way with respect thereto.
What is claimed is:
1. A to search light comprising a bifurcated metallic post revolvable about an axis lengthwise of the post, a metallic search light body pivotally carried in the bifurcations, a lamp carried by the body and having one terminal grounded to the body, the body carrying an insulated terminal connected to the other terminal of the lamp and a conducting member connected to the insulated terminal and having an exposed area elongated in the direction of movement of the body and disposed in the region of the axis of the post, an axially disposed insulated pin extending lengthwise of the post and bearing in all positions of the body on the exposed area of the conducting member to conduct current to the lamp, and an insulatedly supported spring acting on the pin to urge it against the said exposed area.
