Description
Patented Uct. 2, 1951 UNITED VSTATES PATENT OFFICE BRUSH PACKAGE Paul A. Fryda, West Allis, Wis.
Application September 19, 1949, Serial No. 116,441
1 Claim.` (Cl. 20G-65) This invention relates to improvements in packages and methods of packaging, and more particularly to a novel method of packaging and package for clothes brushes having plastic bristles.
It has been found that under conventional methods of packaging clothes brushes with plastic bristles, that during transit the said bristles are apt to become bent out of shape in such manner as to decrease the marketability of said brushes. It is an object of the present invention to so package a plurality of said brushes in such manner that the crumpling and resultant bending of the bristles is obviated.
Another object of the invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and eflicient package for brushes of the type disclosed.
Other and further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a View in perspective partially broken away of a package embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a view on line 3--3 of Fig. 2.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral I represents a rectangular container of conventional type, having the usual cover members II, I2, I3, and I4. A plurality of brushes I5, each having a handle I6, the integral brush head I1, and plastic bristles I8 extending at an angle forwardly of said handle I6. Each handle member I6 is provided with an eye at I9 thereof. The brushes I are laid flat in the container I0, each pair extending in opposite directions longitudinally of said container I0. Partitions 2li are interposed between each pair of brushes, or between two pairs thereof as may be desired. Each partition 20 is provided at diagonally opposite corners with the apertures 2l. After the alternate layers of brushes and partitions are filled into the box, the dowels are inserted vertically through apertures 2l of the partitions and the eyes at I9 of the brush handles I6. The cover members II, I2, I3, and I4 are then closed and secured in any conventional manner. The dowels 22 wil1 retain the brushes I5 against movement within the container I0, thus preventing the bristle ends 23 from movement against the end walls 25 of the container I0, and preventing bending of said bristle ends 23 in transit.
Having thus described the invention, it will be understood that the device is capable of many modications in structure and design, 'without departing from the spirit ofthe invention, Within the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A package including brushes having eye openings in the handle ends thereof and arranged in layer formation, two brushes to a layer, a plurality of rectangular sheet spacers having a diagonally opposed pair of apertures arranged cornerwise in each spacer, the said brush layers being alternated with respect to the sheet spacers, a pair of dowels freely vertically held in the eyes in said brushes and said spacers apertures, and a box container enclosing said elements. f
