This invention relates to an accessory drill for opening and clearing holes in the mouthpieces of type casting'machines, the primary object of the invention being to provide an eflicient, time and labor-saving device of this kind which is adapted to be mounted on the frames of different type-' driven by a moving part Other important objects and advantageous.
features of the invention will be apparent from the following description and the accompanying drawings, wherein, merely for purposes of illustration herein; a specific embodiment of the invention is set forth in detail.

Referring in detail to the drawings, wherein like numerals designate like parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 generally designates a type casting machine having a horizontally extending frame member 6 including a projecting flange l, and having below this the main drive belt 8.
The numeral 9 designates the illustrated accessory drill which is mounted on the frame member flange I and driven from the main drive belt 8. The drill 9 comprises a tubular arm Ill closed at its upper end by a pipe cap ll maintained in place by a cotter pin [2 and having an open lower end l3 into which is welded or otherwise suitably secured the pin [4 on the drive holder I5. The upper part of the tubular arm H3 is slidably telescoped through the split sleeve [6 of the mounting bracket l1; lugs l8, l8 on the sleeve I6 being traversed by a clamping screw or wing bolt l9.
Opposite the lugs l8 the sleeve l6 has an offcenter, circular disc projection 20 which is faced 2 Claims. (Cl. 77-15) and engaged by a similar circular disc 2|, the
upper arm having threaded therethrough a clamping screw or wing bolt 25 to clampably engage the upper side of the'flange l.
The sliding longitudinal and rotary adjustment of the arm Ill provided by the split sleeve l6 and I the clamping bolt [9, andthe inward and out-. ward or lateral adjustment provided by the; clamping discs 20 and 2| and the clamping bolt: 22, enable installation of thedevice on different type casting'machines, and serve as means forproperly adjusting the device in. operative relation to the main drive belt 8 of the machine 5. 1
The drive holder l5 comprises the journal-26 in place and serving as thrust washers. Through the bore 30 of the bushing 21- is threaded the;
spindle 3| having a locknut 32' on one end engaging the bushing flange 29. aBetween the bush:

on the spindle and against 'the bushing flange 28,;
with a washer 35 interposed between the head 34 and the pulley or wheel 33, the head 34 having a radial set screw 36 therein.
The spindle 3| has formed therethrough an axial bore 31 to snugly and slidably receive a flex ible spring drive cable 38 which also traverses the head 34 and is locked in place by the set screw 36. At the opposite end the spindle bore has an enlargement 39 into which is freely extended the flexible tubular hollow shield 40 enclosing the drive cable 38.
Mounted on the free end of the cable shield 40 is the chuck 4|, comprising the cylindrical housing 42 having an internal, annular stop flange 43 at its forward end and having a removable, internal, annular thrust bushing 44 held in place in the rearward end by a set screw 45. The set screw 45 traverses the bushing 44 and engages the cable shield 43 to secure the chuck thereon. The cable 38 emerges from the forward end of the shield 40 and is inserted in an axial bore 46 in the cylindrical drive holder 41 and is locked in place by a radial set screw traversing the holder. The drill holder 41 is journaled on the housing between the thrust bushing 44 and the flange 43 and has a forward extension 48 projecting through the opening provided by the flange 43 and formed with an axial bore 49 adapted to receive a drill point or drill bit 50 held in place by a set screw 5| traversing the extension 48.
With the bracket l1 clamped on the machine frame member flange I and the tubular arm in in a pendent position to place the pulley or drive wheel 33 against the under side of the main drive belt 8 of the machine 5, thearm in is'vertically adjusted and laterally adjusted by the. means above described to engage the pulley 33 with the belt in proper position and with adequate tension. The diameter of the pulley 33 is chosen so that when the machine motor (not shown) is turned on, the drill point 59 will be turned at the proper speed. To open and clear holes in the machine mouthpiece, the chuck 4| is grasped in the hand and the drill point 50 is applied successively to the holes with desir able freedom and ease provided by'the flexible cable, the stable mounting of the device on the machine in the regionof the work, and the emcient drive of the drill by the'machine without recourse to outside power.
I claim: 1. In a type casting machine including anupstanding frame member and a main. drive belt extending transversely of and spaced below the thereof for rotational movement and for sliding longitudinal movement, means extendingthrough said sleeve adjacent the split for securing. said sleeve in a' select position of its rotational and sliding movements, a projection exteriorly of and on said sleeve and spaced from the split thereof,
a mounting bracket arranged transversely of said projection and having one end connected'to said projection, said projection and'sleeve being swingable about an axis transverse of said bracket, means on the other end of said bracketfor securing same'to said i'rame member, a transversely disposed spindle rotatably mounted in 4 said arm and havin one end projecting beyond said arm, a pulley on the projecting end of said spindle and engageable with said main drive belt, a flexible cable having one end secured to said spindle, a chuck, on the other end of said cable, and a drill bit rotatably supported in said chuck.
2. In a type casting machine including an upstanding frame member and a main drive belt extending transversely of and spaced below the upper end of said frame member, an accessory drill for opening and clearing holes in the mouthpieces of said machine comprising an upstanding arm having its upper end positioned adjacent to and spaced from the upper end of said frame member and having its lower end positioned adjacent said belt, a split sleeve mounted on said arm adjacent to and spaced from said upper end thereof for rotational movement and for sliding longitudinal movement, means extending through said sleeve adjacent the split for securing said sleeve in select position of. its rotational and sliding movements, a projection exteriorlyiof and on said sleeve and spaced from the splitthereof, a mounting bracket arranged-transverse ly of said projection and having one. end con nected to said projection, said projection and" sleeve being swingable about an axis transverse:- of said bracket, means on the other end of said bracket for'securing same to said. frame member, a transversely disposed spindle rotatably mounted inrsaid arm and having one and projecting bebit rotatably supported insaid chuck.
