(01. 190-41) The principal object of my invention is'to provide a light portable valise that will not only suc cessfully and conveniently hold under clothing, shirts, toilet articles and like, but will hold outer clothing such as suits and top coats without wrinkling.

More specifically, the object of this invention is to provide a rigid valise that does not require sharp folds in garments being packed therein and so does not cause the garments to become creased during transportation.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a non-wrinkleable-suit valise that is economical in manufacture, durable in use, and refined in appearance.

These and other objects will be apparent to those skilled in the art.

My invention consists in the construction, arrangement, and combination of the various parts of the device, whereby the objects contemplated are attained as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring to the drawings, I have used the numeral ID to generally designate my valise, having a back side II, front side I2, top !3, and hottom I4, with its two side edge portions curved outwardly and upwardly to meet the valise sides, as shown in Fig. 2. The numerals I 5 and I 6 designate the two ends of the container. This numeraled body of the container may be made of any suitable material such as fibre, plastic, aluminum or like. Two main features will be found in the device, i. e. the fiat bottom i4 having its two side edges rounded or curved, and the fact that this bottom is substantially wider than the width of the top portion 13. This latter feature is made possible by the side H being vertical but with the front side 12 extending upwardly and inwardly, as shown in Fig. 1. By this construction the cross-section of the container will be substantially a right triangle. To gain access to the valise I hinge the lower marginal edge of the front side to the right upper edge of the bottom portion. The top of the front side may be detachably secured to the top 53 by any suitable means such as a lock H. Th numeral l8 designates a grip handle on the top l3. On the inside top portion of the device, centrally located and extending transversely of the length of same, I mount any suitable coat hanger bar or like 19, as shown in Fig. 3. The purpose of this bar is to hold coat hangers 20 as shown in the drawings. In using my luggage, it is merely necessary to open the large front side and hang the coat, suit, or like garment on the hanger in the usual manner. Due to the design of the valise the garment 2! will hang directly downwardly ina normal way and adjacent the inside of the back side, as shown in Fig. 2. Upon reaching the bottom portion of the valise, the garment will gently curve with the curved inside left edge of the bottom portion and then extend at substantially a right angle over the bottom and to the front side of the valise. Even here, however, the bottom has its right side edge portion curved. Obviously, the garment is held in normal loose condition on the hanger and as there are no sharp folds or bends to the garment, it will not crease or wrinkle. If desired the coat hangers may be permanently secured instead of detachably secured as shown. In any event, they should be bent so as to not easily become disengaged while in use. The valise should be of rigid construction as distin guished from the flexible bag type. By such a construction it will be apparent that a suit, coat or like garment hung in my valise will not be crushed, will have no sharp fold lines, and when removed after a long trip will be in substantially as good condition as when it was first placed in the valise. If desired, a horizontal baflle 22 may be placed along the upper right marginal edge of the bottom portion [4, as shown in Fig. 2. Such a battle has a tendency to hold the tail end of this suit or like downwardly when the garment has been placed in the valise and its lower end portion tucked under this shelf or baflle portion. On the outside of the hinged side I 2 I have mounted two collapsible fabric containers of the bellows type, having the usual zippers 25. The outside compartment 23 may be used for shirts, under clothing and like and the compartment 24 used for toilet accessories. By this element these items that are often needed and used are readily available without opening the valise proper. These common and well-known type containers when filled bellows outwardly, as shown by dotted line in Fig. 2. If desired, similar or other containers may be secured on the under side of the front l2.

Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of my portable wardrobe valise without departing from the function and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claim, any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents which may be reasonably included Within their scope.

I claim:

In a valise, a body portion having a vertical side wall connecting two vertical end walls, each of said end walls being, narrower across the top than across the bottom, a bottom portion connecting the two end Walls and. having its side edge portions curved outwardly'and upwardly, a sec- 0nd side wall hinged to one of the side edges of said bottom portion and extending upwardly and inwardly, a top portion having a width substantially less than the width of said bottom portion and connecting the two end Walls, a handle on said top portion, a clothes hanger suspended from the inside top portion of said body portion, and

a horizontal bafile shelf on'that upper marginal side edge of said bottom'to which said second mentioned side wall is hinged.
