2 Claims. 1
This application is a division of my copendin application for U. S. patent upon Advertising Device, Serial No. 70,282, filed January 11, 1949, and has particular reference to a combined letter sheet and return postal card or envelope.
The object of the present invention is to provide novel means for associating a return postal card or envelope with an advertising letter sheet so that the card or envelope is removably supported by the letter sheet in a convenient and conspicuous position for delivery, and so that the address data of the addressee provided on the card or envelope will serve as the address head of the letter sheet.
The exact nature and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description when considered with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a front plan view of the letter sheet forming part of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a rear view of the assembled letter sheet and return postal card or envelope.
Figure 3 is a front'view of the assembly shown in Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a front view of the assembly with the letter sheet folded for mailing.
Figure 5 is an enlarged side edge view of the assembly shown in Figure 4, with the folded portions of the letter sheet slightly separated.
Referring in detail to the drawings, 5 indicates an advertising letter sheet adapted to be folded upon parallel transverse lines 6 and 6' for insertion within an envelope for mailing. A letter-head and a message or advertising matter 8 are printed or otherwise provided on the front of the letter sheet.
The upper edge portion 9 of the letter sheet is folded backwardly upon a transverse line Ill, and is provided with a horizontal or longitudinal elongated slot or slit H. The upper portion [2 of the letter sheet is provided adjacent and above the upper fold line 6 with a pair of spaced oppositely inclined diagonal slots or slits I3. A return postal card or envelope I 4 is arranged behind the portion l2 of the letter sheet, and the upper edge portion of said card or envelope is passed upwardly and forwardly through the slot or slit ll, while the lower corners of said card or envelope are passed downwardly and forwardly through the slots or slits l3. In this way, the card or envelope is removably supported by the letter sheet in a convenient and conis application June 23,
spicuous position. Also, the card or envelope has thereon the address data I 5 of the. addressee, and the portion I2 of the letter sheet is provided with a window cut-out I6 arranged so that said data l5 will be exposed through said window cut-out when the card or envelope is so supported by the letter sheet, whereby said data serves as the address head of said letter sheet.
From the foregoing description, the construction, manner of use, and advantages of the invention will be apparent What is claimed as new is:
1. In combination, an advertisin letter sheet havin its upper edge portion folded backwardly upon a transverse line and provided with a longitudinal elongated slit, the upper portion of said letter sheet having a window cut-out and a pair of spaced oppositely inclined diagonal slits, and a return card or envelope disposed in back of said upper portion and having its upper edge portion passed upwardly and forwardly through said longitudinal elongated slit and its lower corners passed downwardly and forwardly through said diagonal slits so as to be supported by the letter sheet, said card or envelope having address data of an addressee thereon exposed through said window cut-out so as to serve as the address head of the letter sheet.
2. In combination, an advertising letter sheet adapted to be folded upon parallel upper and lower transverse lines, said letter sheet having its upper edge portion folded backwardly upon a transverse line and provided with a longitudinal elongated slit, the upper portion of said letter sheet having a window cut-out and a pair of spaced oppositely inclined diagonal slits adjacent and above the upper line, and a return envelope or card disposed in back of said upper portion, said envelope or card having its upper edge portion passed forwardly through said longitudinal elongated slit and its lower corners passed forwardly through said pair of diagonal slits so as to be supported by the letter sheet, said envelope or card having address data of an addressee thereon exposed through said window cut-out to serve as the address head of the letter sheet.
