6 Claims. 1 This invention relates to-a novel merchandizing' card display holder.

The principal object of the present invention is to provide a price card display holder adapted to be easily applied to and removed from shelves and the like for indicating the regular and sales prices of merchandize to purchasers.

Another object is the provision of a transparent plastic card display holder which is adapted to be readily clamped on the edge of a shelf and the like and having novel price display indicia removably mounted therein.

A further object is the provision of a transparent card display holder having novel brackets and clamping members for readily and adjustably clamping the same on the edges of shelves and like of varying thicknesses in position to indicate to purchasers the price of merchandize arranged on the shelf.

Still another object is to provide a card display holder having means for slidably supporting price display indicia having tabs thereon for readily indicating to employees at a glance whether the prices being displayed are at the regular or special sales prices.

These and other objects and advantages will be apparent by referring to the accompanying drawings wherein:

Figure 12 is a perspective view of Referring more particularly to the drawings, wherein similar reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views, numeral I indicates an elongated strip of transparent plastic material of a height slightly greater than the usual wooden shelving 2 employed in merchandizing, which generally ranges from one-fourth to three-fourths of an inch in thickness. Extending rearwardly from the rear face 3 of the strip at the lower edge thereof is a flange 4, which terminates short of the ends of the strip and serves as a support for the lower ends of transparent plastic price display tabs 5. Suitable price indicia 6 are applied to the front and rear faces of each of the tabs 5, which indicia may be printed or otherwise inscribed on cardboard or paper which is adhesively secured to the tabs, or the indicia may be inscribed on the faces of the tabs. Formed on the upper ends of the tabs are laterally extending lips I which are preferably pointed or substantially triangular in shape to facilitate insertion, removal and adjustment on the strips.

The strips are adapted to be arranged and supported so that the tabs 5 will lie flat against the outer edge 8 of the shelving 2 by means of substantially L-shaped transparent plastic brackets 9 having rearwardly extending upper portions I0 and downwardly extending front portions l l, which respectively, flatly engage the top face l2 and the outer edge 8 of the shelving. As the brackets 53 are generally arranged at the opposing ends of the strips, they preferably vary in width. Thus, at the extremities of the strip where they abut the usual vertical partitions of the shelving or the walls, neither of which are shown, the relatively narrow form of brackets, illustrated in Figure 10, are employed. On the other hand, where two or more strips are employed so that their ends will abut, it will be apparent that the wide form of brackets, illustrated in Figure 9, are used to overlap the ends of the strips. The two forms of brackets differ only to the extent that a single row of three vertically spaced apertures 12 are formed in the front portions III of the narrow form, whereas two spaced rows of vertically spaced apertures I2 are correspondingly formed in the wider form. The strips I and brackets 9 are secured together and clamped to the shelving by means of clamping pins l3 which are adapted to be inserted through vertical slots formed in the strips, adjacent the opposing ends thereof, and one of the series of three vertically spaced apertures I2-l2' in each of the brackets 9. The clamping pins I3 are also preferably formed of transparent material. Bores l extend transversely through each of the brackets 9 and open into each of the apertures l2-I2' so that when a clamping pin [3 is projected through one of the apertures I2I2', a relatively small locking pin It may slidably extend through the bores l5 and a bore [8 formed in a shank portion I! on the outer end of the clamping pin l3. Eccentrically mounted with respect to the shank portion I1 is a reduced tubular portion [9. When the clamping pins I3 extend through the slots l4 and apertures l2-l2', in the strip and brackets respectively, a knurled head 20 formed on the outer end of each of the pins 13 is rotated so that the eccentrically mounted tubular portion [9 thereon is moved into clamping engagement with the underside of the shelving 2. The locking pins it are then inserted through the aligned bores I5 and It, in the brackets 9 and shank portions I! of the clamping pins in clamped position relative to the shelving, as best shown in Figure 4. In order to additionally prevent the clamping pins 13 from slipping relative to the strips a series of relatively short grooves 2i are formed in the outer face of the strip and which open into the Vertical slots M formed therein. The grooves 2| are adapted to coast with and receive four Fadially extending ribs 23 formed on the inner face 22 of the knurled head 29 of the clamping pin l3. Thus, depending upon the thickness of the shelving and the position of the clamping pins l3, it will be noted that the strips are securely clamped in position on the shelving by the combined action of the clamping pins 13, locking pins [5, ribs as on the heads of the pins i3, and the grooves 2| in the strips.

If different priceindicia 6 are arranged on the opposing faces of the tabs 5, one may represent the sales price of an item and the other the regular price thereof. Thus, depending upon the direction in which the triangular shaped lips I extend, the sales clerk may readily determine at a glance which items of merchandize are on sale and which are tobe sold at the regular price. It will, of course, be understood that the tabs may be readily inserted and withdrawn from their supporting strips and may also be slidably adjusted laterally therealong so that I they will be aligned with the merchandize on the shelving they are intended to indicate the price thereof. By virtue of this arrangement, it will be apparent that the likelihood of the price tabs being dislodged and or lost will be reduced to a minimum which will materially reduce the Work on the part of sales personnel, as well as minimize the possibility of errors occurring due to the improperly marked merchandize.

While a preferred embodiment of the invention has been shown and described, it will be understood that various changes and improvements may be made therein without departing from the scope and spirit of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what/I claim is:

l. A card display holder of the character .described comprising an elongated fiat strip having a laterally extending flange thereon, vertical slots in said strip, bracket members associated with said strips and adapted to engage with a supporting shelf with said' members abutting said flange, apertures in said brackets, clamping pins being adapted to extend through: said slots arid said apertures, means on said pins whereby said brackets and said strips are clamped rigidly on said supporting shelf.

2. A card display holder of the character described comprising an elongated flat strip having a laterally extending flange thereon, vertical slots in said strip, bracket members associated with said strips and adapted to engage with a supporting shelf with said members abutting said flange, apertures in said brackets clamping pins being adapted to extend through said slots and said apertures, means on said pins whereby said brackets and said strips are clamped on said supporting shelf, and tabs adapted to be supported on said strip.

A card display holder of the character described comprising an elongated flat strip of transparent material having a laterally extending flange thereon, vertical slots in said strip, bracket members of transparent material associated with said strips and adapted to engage with a supporting shelf with said members abutting said flange, apertures in said brackets, clamping pins of transparent material being adapted to extend through said slots and said apertures, means on said pins whereby said brackets and said strips are clamped on said supporting shelf, and tabs of transparent material adapted to be supported on said strip.

A card display holder of the character described comprising an elongated flat strip of transparent material having a laterally extending flange on the bottom thereof, vertical slots in said strip, substantially L-shaped bracket members of transparent material adapted to engage with the respective rear and top faces of said strip and a supporting shelf, spaced apertures in said brackets adaptable for alignment with said slots, clamping pins of transparent material being adapted to extend through said slots and said apertures, means on said pins adapted to rotatably engage said supporting shelf whereby said brackets and said strips are clamped on said supporting shelf, and tabs of transparent material adapted to be supported on the flange on said strip so as to be positioned between the strip and supporting shelf.

A card display holder of the character described comprising an elongated flat strip .having a laterally extending flange on the bottom thereof, vertical slots in said strip adjacent its ends, substantially L-shaped bracket members adapted to engage with the respective rear and top faces of said strip and a supporting shelf, vertically spaced apertures in said brackets adaptable for alignment with said slots, clamping pins being adapted to extend through said slots and one of said apertures in each of said brackets, eccentric means on said pinsadapted to rotatably engage said supporting shelf whereby said brackets and said strips are clamped on said supporting shelf, and tabs adapted to be supported on the flange on said strip so as to bepositioned between the strip and supporting shelf.

A card display holder of the character described comprising an elongated fiat strip having a laterally extending flange on the'b'ottom thereof, vertical slots in said strip adjacent its ends, substantially L-shaped bracket members adapted to engage with the respective rear and top faces of said strip and a supporting shelf, a
