1 Claim. l This invention relates to stove doors and more particularly to that type of oven door which' is provided with a covered opening or window therein, thus enabling the housewife to note the progress of the baking or roasting at any time` tightly together and consequently, fumes and greasy odors fromr cooking would collect in the inaccessible space between them and from where they could not be readily cleaned off by the house- Wife.
One of the principal objects of the present invention is to overcome the foregoing objections by providing adequate seals at both outer and inner faces of the panes.
Another object of the invention is to incorporate the glazed unit in a sub-assembly which can be manufactured independently of the door itself and thereafer installed in the door asa unit.
Other objects and advantages of my invention will be apparent as the description is considered with the accompanying drawings in which:

Referring more particularly to the drawings I denotes a cooking stove or range comprising a body 2 supported upon a base 3 and provided with top burner openings 4. The body 2 is alsoprovided with side utility compartments 5, a single bottom utility compartment 6 and an oven compartment 'I, all of conventional construction. The
oven opening is normally closed by a door 8 hinged at its bottom edge in any desirable manner, not shown.
The oven door 8 consists of a front enameled rectangular sheet metal plate 9 and a back lining member or plate Ill also of sheet metal. The
front plate 9 is formed with flange l l, projecting inwardly or rearwardly from its side, top and bottom edges and adapted to receive or fit snugly over corresponding liange I2, projecting outwardly or forwardly from the side, top and bottom edges of the lining plate i0. The bottom horizontally disposed portion of inwardly or rearwardly extending flange I i is formed with an upwardly bent extension I3 which prevents separation of the plates 9 and I0 at their lower ends'. The upper end of the lining plate i 0 seats against a pair of spacing brackets le, only one of which is shown, secured tov-and projecting rearwardly from the upper rear face yof the front plate 9. These brackets are provided with apertures l5, which register with corresponding aperturesl in the lining plate for a purpose presently defscribed. By rst. inserting the lower end of the lining plate behind the extension I3 the lining plate member I9 can be readily moved into' place within the connes of flange II, and in position to be secured to the front plate I0. This is accomplished by means of headed screws 59", adapted to be inserted forwardly through apertures I6 and thence through apertures I5, in the order named. Any suitable means, not shown, is employed to hinge the lower end edge of the oven door 8 to the stove body 2, and curved arms 20 projecting rearwardly and downwardly from the sides of ange I2, are formed with hooked shaped ends 2| adapted to be connected to conventional spring mechanism, not shown, for nor-"- mally maintaining the doorv 8 in closed or open position. Both front plate 9 and lining plate I0 are provided with rectangular window openings I'I and I8 respectively.
Secured snugly to the lining plate in any suitable manner, as by welding contacting areas, is a brace member or plate I9, conforming in general outline and shape with plate l0, and serving to brace and reinforce the lining member or plate I0. This brace member is formed with ya rectangular window opening 22 which, generally speaking, registers with the window openings I1 and I8 of plates 9 and I0, just described, and the intermediate portion of y`the brace member is bellied forwardly, as at 35, from the correspondingly rearwardly bent or bellied adjacent portion 36, of the lining plate IIJ, for a purpose presently described.
The window openings II, I- land122, previously described, are normally closed by a readily assembled and disassembled window unit 23. This unit comprises a rectangular sheet metal frame member 24 in which front and rear glass members 25 and 26 are supported, a rectangular spacing member 21, U-shaped in cross section and of thin slightly resilient sheet metal, being employed to hold the glass members apart. The body portion 28 of the sheet metal frame member 24, along the side, top and bottom portions thereof, is bent forwardly at right angles to the body portion 28 to provide a lcontinuous forwardly extending flange 29. This flange 29 terminates at its forwardedge in .an inwardly bent narrow flange 30 against which the front edge face of the front glass 25 is tightly forced by the 4action of spacing member 21.
The body portion 28 of the frame member 24 is cut away or slit at intervals, as at 3|, to provide portion of these strips or tongues are v.then

This construction provides an economical means for securing one of the glass sheets in place and at the same time permits of the glass supporting frame being made from a single piece of sheet metal.
