This invention relates to new and useful improvements in dispensers and the primary object of the present invention is to provide a dispensing cabinet for rolls of toilet paper and the like.

Another important object of the present invention is to provide a dispenser for toilet paper and the like including a delivery chute, a gravity actuated plate normally closing the entrance to said chute, and embodying novel and improved means for releasably supporting the plate so that the rolls of paper may be delivered to the chute.

Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a dispenser including a novel and improved guide that will receive and retain rolls of paper in a conveniently accessible position.

Another feature of the present invention is to provide a dispenser including a trough adapted to receive rolls of paper, a delivery chute communicating with said trough and embodying means for ejecting rolls of paper from said trough into said chute.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a dispenser of the aforementioned character that is small and compact in structure and which will retain a large quantity of rolls of paper therein in a clean and sanitary manner.

A still further aim of the present invention is to provide a dispenser for toilet paper that is simple and practical in construction, strong apd reliable in use, neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and other- Wise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully Figure 7 is a group perspective view of the guide roller and plug therefor that are used in conjunction with the. present invention.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, where in for the purpose of illustration, there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present inhereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a group perspective view of the present invention, the lower front wall being removed therefrom;

Figure 2 is a front elevational view of the present dispenser, the lower front wall removed therefrom;

The side wall 12 is provided with a downward- 1y projecting, integral extension or wall 25 which is spaced parallel to a further extension or wall 28 that depends from the inner end 39 of the bottom wall It that terminates in spaced relation to the side wall [2.

Suitably fixed to the bottom wall 18, is an elongated substantially concavo-oonvexed trough 32. The material of the trough 32 immediately adjacent the longitudinal edges 36 and 35 thereof are pressed inwardly to provide channeled strips or retainers 33 and All which are spaced parallel to the central portion or lower extremities of the trough 32. The inner end 52 of the trough 32 terminates at the inner portion 36 of the bottom wall [8 (see Figure l).

The numeral M represents a substantially rectangular and hollow block of casing of bendable material having outwardly extending side edges 3% that are integrally formed with a concavoconvexed plate 53. Longitudinal ribs 523 are pressed outwardly from the plate '58 and bear against the concaved surface of the trough 32 for sliding movement of the block 64 relative to and upon the trough 32, as shown best in Figure 3 of the drawings.

A substantially rectangular, lower forward wall 52 is provided with a plurality of apertures 52 that register with further apertures 56 provided in the flanges 29 and 2d and which receive fasten.- ers 58 for detachably securing the forward wall 52 to the side walls i! and i2, and bottom wall ii? of the housing or cabinet Hi. The transverse edges of the wall 52 are turned inwardly to provide retainer flanges (it that bear against the inner surfaces of the walls H and i2, and the lower longitudinal edge of the wall 52 is also turned inwardly to provide a retaining flange 62 that is disposed under the flange 24 of the bottom wall IS.

A bolt of guide pin 64 extends forwardly and transversely through the block M and includes an outwardly projecting threaded end portion 65 that is slidably received in a longitudinal slot 63 in the lower forward wall or panel 52. A finger knob i6 is provided with an internally threaded recess or socket I2 that receivably engages the end portion 68 of the bolt 64.

A substantiall rectangular plate i6 is positioned between the forward portion of the trough 32 and the wall 52 and includes an opening 16 that receives the bolt 6 whereby the said plate 74 will move with the block d4.

Projecting downwardly from one longitudinal edge of the plate I l adjacent one end thereof, is a downwardly and rearwardly extending projection "I8 having a holding sleeve 30 at its free lower end in which there is fixed one end of an elongated bar or arm 32. The free end of the arm 82 is angulated as at 5 and terminates in a pointed extremity or cam 36.

Hinged or pivoted to the inner surface of the lower forward wall 52, as at 83, is a gravit actuated support plate 9i! that is adapted to close the opening between the end portion 30 of the bottom wall I8 and the side wall I2. One edge of the plate 90 is pressed outwardly to seat 92 that will engage the end portion 86 of the arm 82 when the block 341 is moved toward the side wall 22 to effect a pivotal raising movement of the plate 9i! to that position shown in Figure e of the drawings.

The extensions 25 and 28 together with a lower wall or cross member 9 5 between the same form a discharge or delivery chute or bin 3% for a .purpose which will later be more fully apparent.

Removably secured in the chute 556 is a substantially U-shaped guide and support member I20 having leg portions or side portions I22 that are spaced from the inner surfaces of th extensions 25 and 28. The upper edges of the leg portions I22 are provided with slopin guide surfaces I24 and I26 that terminate in forwardly arcuated guide surfaces i23. Stops I30 are integrally formed at the forward ends of the leg portions I22 and arcuate notches I32 are formed in the edges I28 adjacent the stops i353.

Frictionally fitted in each end of the core I34 for each roll I I2, is a suitable plug I3 6 the outer surfaces of which are provided with recesses !38 in which there are fixed the shank portions I 36 of headed rollers Hi2 that will roll along the surfaces I24, I25 and I28 until the same are received in the arcuate notches I32.

In practical use of the present invention, the block 44 is first positioned adjacent the side wall II and the lower roll in the compartment I95 bears upon the trough 32.

As the block 44 is moved toward the side wall provide a' I84 which ter- L I2, the same will force the roll in the trough to a position where the same will be supported by the plate since the plate 90 will be raised by the rod 82 as the block is moved toward the side wall I2.

When the block 42 is again moved toward the side wall I I, the finger or bar 82 will release the plate 90 and the roll will enter the chute I 20, it being understood that the rollers I42 will ride upon the edges I24, I26 and I28 as previously described.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. A dispenser for rolls of paper comprising a housing, a compartment provided in said housing, a delivery trough adapted to receive rolls of paper from said compartment, a discharge chute, means mounted in said discharge chute adapted to support rolls of paper, means for releasing said last mentioned means whereby a roll of paper will enter said chute, and means supporting said releasing means and constituting a. means for urging rolls of paper from the trough into the chute.

2. The combination of claim 1 wherein said means mounted in said discharge chute includes a gravity actuated plate.

3. The combination of claim 2 wherein said releasing means includes a slidable member.

4. In combination, a dispenser housing having a compartment therein, rolls of material in said compartment, a delivery chute, a guide trough leading to the chute, mean preventing entrance of said rolls into said chute, means for releasing said last mentioned means whereby said rolls will fall into said chute, means mounted in said chute for guiding and supporting said rolls, means carried by said rolls engaging said guiding and supporting means, and means for urging rolls in the trough toward the chute and constituting a support for said releasing means.

5. A dispenser for rolls of paper comprising a housing having a compartment therein, a horizontally disposed trough disposed beneath the compartment, a delivery chute at on end of said trough, a vertically swingable support plate mounted in said chute, a sliding member mounted in said trough and adapted to force a roll of paper in the trough toward the chute as the member is moved toward the chute, said member blocking the passage of a roll of paper into th trough from the compartment during its movement to ward the chute, and means carried by and movable with the member to hold the plate raised during the movement of the member toward the chute, said means releasing the plate as the member is moved away from the chute.

6. The combination of claim 5 wherein said means includes an arm having a cam at one end, said plate having a recess slidably receiving said cam during movement of the member toward the chute.

'7. A dispenser for toilet paper comprising a housing having a vertical compartment, a deliver bin paralleling the compartment and carried by the housing, a trough underlying the compartment and ieading to the bin, a vertically swingable plate mounted in said delivery bin, a slide member in said trough for moving a roll of paper entering the trough from the compartment into the delivery bin above the plate, and means carried by said slide member engaging and raising the plate upon movement of the in mber toward the bin to block the passage of a roll through the bin, and said means releasing the plate upon movement of the member away from the bin whereupon the plate will swing downwardly to permit the passage of a roll of paper through the bin.
