The valves alone referred to are of the plug type, *a tapered, rotatable, ported plug being em.- ployed in a tapered valvehbody. O-ne endof the plug is provided with a square head for receiving a suitable wrench and this head also carries a' screw rotatable relative thereto, which,r` when rotated, forces lubricant to the valVe plug. and seat which lubricates and frees the plug so that it may be turned in the valve body. In theV prior art, a second Wrenchis employed to rotate this screw.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a single wrench which will rotate a valve of the class referred to and also force lubricant to it. l Another object is to provide a wrench which kwill continually supply lubricant to the valve until the valve becomes suiiciently lubricated to portion being broken awayY to show a` detail there.- A

turned by a suitable box Wrench having a square opening therein. The head also threadedly carries'a screw I3, which, when turned, forces lubricant from lubricant chamber I4 to the surface of the plug through 'suitablepa'ssages I5, I6, I1.
In the prior art tlflis.v screw is turneduby a separate Wrench applied to head I8 of the screw.
The valve just described is conventional and well known andforms no part of the invention per se, hence `has been illustrated in simplified form.
The wrench which is thesubject-matterlof the invention has a body portion 20 having a square socket 2 I at one end thereof which ts the lsquare head on .thevalve The other end has an integral laterally 4,extending Varm- 22 anda plate 23 secured to such arm as by screws 24 to form a rectangular slot 25,. as best shown rin Figure 5.

.The circular ange 26, previously described, also has rotatably mounted thereon a cup-shaped ratchet member 35 having ratchet teeth 36L circumferentially disposed thereon. In'operation the wrench is placed on the square head of the valve. as shown in Figure 3, and the handle is rotated in a direction to compress the. springr 30. If the valve plug is relatively free in its seat the spring will be compressed a certain amountand the valve plug will then turn. While compressing the spring the ratchet pawl also rotates the ratchet and the lubricant feed screw a .slight amount, forcing lubricantfto ythe valve. lf the vvalve `p1ug"fails`t`turh,' because it is stick ing in its seat, the handle is released.` During release the ratchet pawl is positioned in another ratchet tooth. The wrench handle is again pulled, forcing more lubricant to the valve. This process of pulling and releasing the handle is continued until sufcient lubricant is forced into the valve to free it, at which point the valve plug will rotate in response to the force applied through the spring. Any desired tension. on the" spring may be obtained by suitable adjustment oi screw 32.
While the use of spring has the advantage that it will giveithe wrench a springy feel in.

The slot 2K5, in effectr provides a lost motion connection between the body 20 and handle 21 and if the spring. were"` parent that many modifications are possible within the spirit of the invention. The ratchet, for' exam-ple', need not necessarily have teethsince the well known overrunning tooth-less type of intermittent clutch could be employed, if. desired. While the sockets for the. valve, head. and lubricant screw have been shown as. square and hexagonal,- respectively, these could be any shape' desired to fit the respective parts which they cooperate. If it be desired to turn-a valve without applying' l1.ilo`r'1`cai`it,y the wrench mail' be used with the ratchet pawl released, such as by reieas ing it with a ratchet release which could be retained in released position any` suitable manner. n
Another manner of turning the valve plug without forcing lubricant thereto isUv by merely turning the wrench handle in a direction reverse to vthat described. It is apparent that when so used hand1e 2'1 will engage abutment 29l and as the valve is turned the ratchet pawl will pass over the ratchet teeth Without rotating the lubricant screw. It thus becomeslapparent that in the event the valve or valves to be operated are well lubricated, as would be the case where they are frequently used, the wrench may be used to turn the valves Without forcing lubricant thereto.
Many other modifications will become apparentl within the spirit and scope of the invention, hence the invention is not to be limited except as crl'ened by the appended claims.
Having described the invent-ion what is claimed as new is:
i. A wrench for turning` the operating head of a valve and a lubricant forcing` screw 4disposed axially therein, comprising, socket means engageable with the head, socket means engageable with the screw,` a memberV rigidly connected to the rst socket means extending laterally thereof, a ratchet wheel rigidly connected to the second socket means, a handle overlying said member and rotatable rotative thereto. a lost motion connection between the handle and member, and a ratchet pawl carried by the handle engageable with the ratchet wheel.
2. A wrench in accordance with claim l wherein the lost motion connection is at the end of said member.
3. A wrench for turning the operating head of a valve having a lubricant forcing screw disposed axially therein, comprising, socket means engageable with the head, socket means engageable with the screw, a circular surface on the outside of the rst socket means, a handle having a circular opening at one end thereof surrounding the circular surface, a ratchet Wheel secured to the second socket means also rotatably supported on said surface, means associated with the first and second. socket means fori holding the two socket meansiand handle meanstogethe-r, a ratchet pawl on the handle engageable with the ratchet wheel, an integral member extending laterally of the first socket means on which the handle overlies, and means at the e'nd of the member permitting limited movement of the handle relative thereto,
the construction being such that oscillation of the handle within the limit rotates the screw to feed lubricant to the screw and movement of the handi'e after it reaches the limit rotates the valve.
4. In a valverof thev type having a rotatable valve member with means for operating it and means for forcingl-ubricant thereto, thecombination therewith4 of a wrench. for operating the two means aforesaid. said wrench` comprising means engaging the valve operating means,A means engaging the lubricant forcing. means, a single handle for operati-ng. the last. two means, the wrench having. operative connections betweentle handle and the last two means such. that. moveme-nt of the handle in. one manner operatesy the lubricant forcing means only and movement. of thev handle in. another manner operates the valve operating means.
5. A. unitary wrenchfor turning. two concentric Wrench operated members rotatable relative t0 one another about a common axis, comprising; means carried by the wrench adapted. to grip one member and. rotate same meansv carried by the wrench adapted to grip the other member and rotate sainer a handle carried by the wrench op-` eratively connected to both means, the handle and both means all' being relatively rotatable about a common axis, intermittent gripping means operatively interposed between the handle and one means, and abutment means interposed between the handle and the' other means adapted to limit rotation of the handle relative to the other means, whereby the latter may be rotated after the handle is. relatively rotated a predetermined amount.

In a valve unit of the type having rst and second wrench operated members rotatable relafirst member being adapted to rotate a rotary valve carried by the unit between open and .closed positions, and the second member being Vads-.ipted to force lubricant to the rotary valve, upon .relative rotation between it and the valve, comprising; wrench means for operating Vsaid members, said wrench means including, rst gripping means adapted to grip the first member, second gripping means adapted to grip the second member, handle means connected to the rst gripping means, and operative` connections including the handle means and an intermittent gripping device constructed and. arranged. so that oscillatory movement of the handle means will intermittently rotate the second member to force lubri# cant to the valve,` and swinging movement of the handle through a predetermined arc will move the valve between open and closed positions.
