- combination garment.
The primary object of the invention is to ,provide a brassire which is easy to don, and which has yieldable under-arm and under-breast features which coact to permit normal breathing and changes in posture without undue binding stress on or discomfort to the wearer, and which coact to control and distribute excess esh at the breasts, under the arms, and at the diaphragm and abdomen, so as to eliminate unsightly bulges.
The exact nature of the present invention will become apparent from the following description when considered in connection panying drawings, in which:
Figure 2 is an outside View of the brassire shown in Figure 1, laid out flat and drawn on a reduced scale;
Figure 3 is an inside View similar to Figure 2;
Figure 4 is an enlarged horizontal section taken on line 4-4 of Figure 1;
Figure 5 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical section taken on line.5-5 of Figure 1; and
Figure 6 is an enlarged fragmentary horizontal section taken on line B-I of Figure 2.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the garment illustrated includes an inelastic back portion 5, similar inelastic side portions t sewed at 'I along their rear edges to the side edges of the back portion, similar front portions 8 sewed at 9 along the lower minor portions of their outer side edges to the lower minor portions of the front edges of said side portions, horizontally yieldable elastic under-arm gores I connecting the upper major portions of the outer side edges of the front portions with the upper major portions of the front edges of the side portions, and means such as coacting fastener elements II and I2 on the inner side edges of the respective front portions for connecting them at the front of the wearer.
Shoulder straps I3, which preferably include elastic portions I3', are attached at corresponding ends to upwardextensions or tabs I4 of the front portions and at their other ends to upward extensions or tabs I of the back portion.
Each front portion includes an upper breast pocket I6 and horizontally yieldable under-breast with the accoml N. Y., assignor to Even- New York, N. Y., a corpart composed of inner and outer inelastic panels il vand I3 connected by an elastic downwardly and inwardly inclined 'panel I9.
A horizontally yieldable diaphragm-controlling belt 2@ is provided on the insideof each underbreast band or part, and is composed of a narrow elastic section ZI attached at one end to the inner edge of the adjacent outer panel I8 as at 2i', andan inelastic section 22 connecting the other end of said elastic section 2l to the inner edge of the adjacent inner panel II.
The elastic under-breast portions and their coacting elasticy belts coact with the under-arm elastic gores I to make garment snugly around the body with perfect comfort and safety and without hindering free expansion of the chest and diaphragm in breathing. These features, in conjunction with the fact that the garment opens at the front, makes the garment easy to don. The elastic features further permit changes in posture without undue binding stress on or discomfort to the wearer, and they further coact to control and distribute excess esh at the breasts, under the arms, and at the diaphragm and abdomen so as to eliminate unsightly bulges.
In actual use, the present garment has served to supply a satisfactory need in many cases, in a manner not possible with a garment incorporating any one of the elastic features alone.
From the foregoing description, it is believed that the construction and advantages of the present invention will be readily understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art. Modiiications and changes in details are contemplated, such as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having described the claimed as new is: f
1. A front-opening brassire comprising a onepiece inelastic back portion, an inelastic side portion sewed along its rear edge to each side edge of the back portion, a front portion sewed along the lower portion of its outer side edge to the lower portion of the front edge of each side porn tion, a horizontally yieldable elastic under-arm gore connecting the upper portion of the outer side edge of each front portion with the upper portion of the front edge of the adjacent side portion, and means for separably connecting the inner side edgespof the front portions at the front of the wearer.
2. The construction defined in claim 1, wherein each front portion includes an upper breast invention, what is it possible to wear the 3 pocket and a horizontally yieldable under-breast part composed of inner and outer inelastic panels and an elastic downwardly and inwardly inclined panel connecting said inelastic panels.
3. The construction dened in claim l, wherein each front portion includes an upper breast pocket and a horizontally yieldable under-breast part composed of inner and outer inelastic panels and an elastic downwardly and inwardly inclined panel connecting said inelastic panels, and a horizontally yieldable diaphragm controlling belt on the inside of each under-breast part.
4. The construction dened in claim 1, wherein each front portion includes an upper breast pocket and a horizontally yieldable under-breast part composed of inner and outer inelastic panels and an elastic downwardly and inwardly inclined panel connecting said inelastic panels, and a horizontally yieldable diaphragm controlling belt on the inside of each under-breast part, each diaphragm controlling belt comprising a narrow elastic section attached at one end to the inner edge of the outer panel of the adjacent underbreast part, and an inelastic section connecting the other end of said elastic section to the inner edge of the inner panel of said adjacent underbreast part.
5. A brassire comprising an inelastic back portion, an inelastic side portion sewed along its Cil tally yieldable under breast part composed of inner and outer elastic panels and an elastic downwardly and inwardly inclined panel connecting said inelastic panels.
