The 'object of my invention is to aft'ord a ready means of making tracings, copies, &c., upon paper orlinen .and theinvention consists of a transparent desk of novel Construction, as hereinai'ter described.

The object to be traced or'copied is. then placed upon the glass plate and over it-'is laid. the' sheet of blank paper or linen which is to receive the tracing. W'ith' this Construction the light illuminates the paper and object to be traced, so that a copy is easily taken. The illumination of the object may be still further increased by-providing the interier of the base'C with reflecting-surfaces, such as white paint, tin, or re-. fiect'ors. At night an artificial light may be employed.

The advantages possessed by this invention over the usnal neans for making copies and .tracings are that it saves time and material,

since thedesired tracing is taken at one operation. Its valueis also very great in quickly -preparing accurate copies of original reports which have to be made in duplicate and triplicate. It also fur'nishes a ready means of detecting inaccuracies in similar reports. l Having thus described myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
