PORTABLE BABY DINETTE Frank R. Higgins, Detroit, Mich.

This invention relates to improvements in portable baby dinettes.

An object of the invention is to provide an improved portable baby dinette which will be foldable into'a compact package, and which may be quickly assembled to form a highly eflicient combined baby tray or dinette.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved foldable and portable baby dinette or tray which will be formed with a base portion and a plurality of interconnected hinged members which when opened up will form a back portion, and a tray or dinette portion and adjustable side arm portions.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved portable baby dinette which will include a removed toilet seat stored in a compartment in the dinette when not in use.

Another object of the invention is to provide a portable and collapsible baby dinette which will comprise a plurality of hinged sections with automatic snap fasteners for supporting the sections in operative position.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved portable knockdown baby dinette which will be highly efficient in operation, and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.

Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.

Figure 7 is an end view of the portable baby dinette showing in dotted lines in assembled position, and partly broken away to show the members in folded position;

Figure 8 is a front elevation of the portable baby dinette in knockdown or folded position;

Figure 9 is a plan view of the portable baby dinette in folded position showing the underneath portions in dotted lines; and

Figure 10 is a plan view of the removable toilet seat.

iIn carrying out the invention, there is provided a housing including a seat portion I and a parallel lower spaced bottom portion 2 integrally secured together by the

opposite end portions

3 and 4, and the rear portion 5.

The opposite front end corner posts 6 and l are hinged at 8 and 9 respectively to the forward edge of the seat portion I, while the back member ID is hinged at II and I2 and is adapted to be raised to vertical position when the dinette is assembled, and to be received between the two corner posts 6 and l which will extend parallel with the seat portion I and on top thereof when knocked down.

The two corner posts 6 and "I will support the hinges l3 and It at their upper ends, which in turn will be connected with and support the tray or dinette 15 to extend forwardly of the corner posts when in assembled position.

The oppositely extending snap fasteners l6 and I! will be placed on the front and rear surfaces of the two corner posts 6 and I, and will be secured thereto by the bolts or fastening means [8 which extend through the inner ends of said snap fasteners and the corner posts. The outer ends of the snap fasteners l6 and I! are bent outwardly at their outer or free ends, and are apertured at 48 to snap over the locking heads it at the oppo site ends of the inner edge of the tray or dinette lo and on the forward edge of the seat portion I, whereby when the posts are raised to assembled position, they Will automatically snap into locked position.

Combined arm rests or braces 20 will be formed with the slots 2i and 22 separated by the parti tions 23, and said slots will be positioned over the headed screws or

fasteners

24 and 25 secured respectively to the inner and lower ends of the corner posts '6 and l, and to the ends of the back member Iii.

The compartment 26 formed between the seat portion I and the bottom portion 2 will be open at its forward end, and will removably receive the toilet seat 2'! whereby the same may be readily stored in said compartment 26 for transportation and when not in use, ready to be removed therefrom and set up without delay when needed.

From the foregoing description, it will be seen that the improved portable baby dinette will be so constructed that it may be readily transported from place to place, and in fact, take the place of a high chair and toilet chair.

While the preferred embodiment of the instant invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

1. A portable device including a seat portion and a spaced bottom portion arranged in parallel relation and integrally connected by opposed end and rear portions to provide a recess between the seat portion and the bottom portion, a tray hingedly supported by said seat portion, a back hinged to said seat portion, said tray and back being foldable within the limits of said end and rear portions, corner posts hinged to said seat portion. and to said tray, slotted bracing elements adjustably supported between said corner posts and said back, and resilient snap fasteners supported by said corner posts and engageable with said tray and seat portion to hold the several posts in assembled position, said recess bottom portion comprising a light weight support for the seat portion and comprising a storage container for a separate toilet seat.

A portable device including a seat portion and a spaced bottom portion arranged in parallel relation and integrally connected by opposed end and rear portions to provide a recess between the seat portion and the bottom portion, tray hingedly supported by said seat portion, a back hinged to said seat portion, said tray and back being foldable within the limits of said end and rear portions, corner posts hinged to said seat portion and to said tray, slotted bracing elements adjustably supported between said corner posts and said back, resilient snap fasteners supported by said corner posts and engageable with said tray and seat portion to hold the several posts in assembled position.
