Description

(N0 Model.)
' H. HUTH.
DINNER PAIL.
W1 TN'ESSES a N. PETERS. Pawn-ma a". Washington, 0 a
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
HENRY HUTH, or WISOONISOO, PENNSYLVANIA.
DINNER-PAIL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 251,444, dated December 27, I881.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY Hunt, of Wisconisco, in the county of Dauphin and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dinner-Pails; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference beinghad tothe accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures.
This invention relates to dinner-cans for miners and other laborers who are obliged to carry their meals from hometo their place of work and it consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same, which will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings hereto annexed, A represents a bucket or can, of suitable size and shape, and provided with a horizontal partition, B, dividing it into two compartments,
the lower one of which, 0, should be close and liquid-tight, while the upper one, D, is open and provided with a'suitable removable cover, E. The side of the can or vessel A is provided with a spout, F, communicating with the lower compartment, 0, and provided with a cap or cover, G, which, as well as the spout, may be screw-threaded, as shown. Any ordinary stopper may, however, be substituted for the cap G. The can A is provided with ears or bails H to receive a strap, I, by which it may conveniently be carried.
Application filed November 19, 1881. (No model.)
be readily removed when wanted. The liquid may be conveniently poured from the lower compartment through the spout F either before or after removing the contents of the up per compartment. The horizontal partition B perfectly separates the two compartments, and absolutely prevents the solid eatables from being moistened, and thus rendered unpleasant and unpalatable, as they are liable to be when, as is usually the case, the coffee, &c., are carried in a bottle placed loosely in the can.
My improved dinner-can is exceedingly simple, consisting of but a single part besides the covers. It is convenient, durable, inexpensive, and easily kept clean.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- 1. As an improvement in dinner-cans, the can or bucket A, having horizontal partition B, spout F, with cap or stopper G, and cover E, substantially as and for the purpose shown and specified.
2. A dinner-can divided by a permanent horizontal partition into two compartments, the lower one of which is provided with asuitable spout, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY MUTH.
