UNITED STATES PATENT. OFFICE.
CHARLES H. PELTIER, OF FARIBAULT, MINNESOTA.
FAUCET ATTACH MENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 251,277, dated December 20, 1881.
Application filed August 27, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, G. H. PELTIER, a citizen of the United States, resident of Faribault, in the county of Rice and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Faucet Attachments; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construc tion and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification,- aud to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation ofa side elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged view of the shield. Fig. 3 is a top View, and Fig. 4 is a view from the opposite side of the shield.
This invention has relation to faucet attachments; and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of a two-part shield conical in form, hinged together, provided with a locking-catch and an inside friction-band,
whereby the device may be attached to faucets of varying sizes employed in tapping beercasks or the like, as will be hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
The object of this invention is to protect the clothing of the operator, While tapping a keg of beer or ale, from the spray or foam that usually fiies from the keg while the plug is being driven into the keg by the faucet.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates a beer-keg set on end.
B designates the faucet. 0 indicates the improved shield, which is constructed in two parts,D and E, of sheet metal, conical in form except at the nose portion F. The nose portion F is hinged together at one side, and is provided at the other side with a spring or other catch, G, for locking the shield in place upon the faucet. In order to adapt the shield for use on faucets of varying sizes, a rubber lining, H, is provided for the nose portion F.
The advantages of this attachment are obvious from the foregoing description.
Having thus fully described my invention, what 1 claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In an attachment for faucets, the two-part shield (J, hinged at the nose portion F, and provided with the catch G, and rubber lining II in the nose portion, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES H. PELTIER.
