'Fi'g. '1 illustrates the'relative position of the *variouselements constituting the structure of the shaving instrument comprising the invention-including: -a handle I, a curved blade plate l having a threadedstud bolt- 3 attached to the center thereof. The new features and results as o well as i the novelty-0f the instant 'invention are as follows:
Handle I: (It) -Is preferably provided with --a convex en'd proximate to a and having a *radius concomitant :to the c'ur-vature of the blade plate 2, wherebythe blade Tis'urged to conform with the-concave side 'of theplate i. (b) The handle I being the sole means of holding the -a'ssembled relationship of the-plate landthe-razor -bladeI whereby the latter is left free of an impediment to t the. passage of l'athergair, follicular scale and dirt between the cutting edgesof' the razor 1 and the guard bars 6-6; The net-result being -a more sanitary and l easily cleaned instrument as wen as non-clogging guard meansfor the cutting edge of the blade T.
-Theblade-1supporting platefl preferably made of a single :piece a of 're'silientsmaterial,ihaving normed-integrally -.contig'u ous therewith; .(a),
Blade retainers 4-4-4-4 forming aligning means for the blade 1 and holding the same parallelogram in plan. (b) Extending from the two ends of the plate 2 the variable angle adjustment means formed by guides -5 permit a slight change in the angle of incidence of the blade by changing the position of the handle according to the choice of the operator with a. view to changing the depth of the cut and closeness of the shave.
Stud 3 provides means whereby the various elements of the shaving instrument are held in operative assembly in conjunction with the handle I.
Blade retainers 4-4-44 preferably are integral extensions partly cut away from a single sheet of metal, such as spring bronze or the like and are extended substantially at right angles to the concave side of the plate 2 in a position to contact the two ends of the blade 1 which is shown to have an extension at either end lying between the retainers 4-4-4-4, thus preventing lateral or longitudinal movement of the blade and holding the same in alignment with the plate 2 including the angle adjusters 5-5 and the guard bars 6-6, all elements being held parallelogram in plan.
Angle adjusters 5-5 extended laterally from the two ends of plate 2 form spring arms suspending the guard bars 6-6 in parallax relationship to the fiat sides and cutting edge only of the blade 1 whereby a change of position of both the angle adjusters 5-5 and the guard barsG-G with relation to the cutting edges of the blade 1 .is permitted according to the angle atwhich ments thereof instrumental in bringing about the new results obtained by the instant shaving instrument the following claims are made:
