My present invention relates to an improved sound producing device of the type especially adapted to mechanically produce a sound similar to the call of a goose and particularly for use by hunters and others to attract geese toward the sound.

The device of my invention is simple to manufacture and to use and when operated produces from the sound box a call similar to the sound made by a goose.

In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised, but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claim.

Referring now to the drawings I have illustrated the present preferred embodiment of the device as comprising a wooden box preferably of mahogany having a base 2, end walls 4 and 6 and rearwardly tapering side walls 8 and I0 beveled along their upper edges at I2.

A cover I4 is loosely secured by screw I6 to the end wall 4 and at the free end of the cover, a cut out I8 forms a reduced grip 20.

Approximately midway of the cover and in a recess 22 on the under side thereof I affix a. diagonally grooved plastic sheet 24 protruding below the under face of the cover.

With the cover loosely and pivotally secured to the box it will appear that as the cover is drawn or swung slightly on its pivot over either beveled edge I2 the serration will produce vibrations magnified by the sound box, and it has been found that the noise produced by these sound vibrations is similar to the call produced vocally by a goose.

Approximately midway of the cover and in a recess 22 on the under side thereof I aix a sounding block 23 of hard material, such as a hard plastic sheet having serrations 24 molded in its exposed face. These parallel serrations extend diagonally with relation to the longitudinal cover and the side walls, and the serrated face protrudes slightly below the under side of the cover.

Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

In the goose call described, the combination with a sound box having longitudinal side walls, said side walls having inclined and beveled upper edges, and a, cover loosely pivoted at the rear lower end of the box and adapted to swing across the beveled edges, of a block of hard material aixed in a groove in the under side of the cover, and said block having parallel sound-serrations in its exposed face for coaction with and extending diagonally of said beveled edges.
