Description

y 1950 J. F. KRATKOWSKI 2,506,509
PICTURE HOLDER Filed July 3, 1946 Inventor WWW Patented May 2, 1950 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE PICTURE HOLDER John F. Kratkowski, West Brighton, N. Y.
Application July 3, 1946, Serial No. 681,260
1 Claim. 1
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in picture holders and more particularly to a device of this character in the form of a pendant or tab of composition material, such as plastic, Lucite or the like, and in which a pair of pictures may be secured in back-to-back relation in view at opposite sides of the holder.
An important object of the invention is to provide a picture holder of this character which may be used as a pendant or similar ornament, or which may be used as the finger-grip or tab for a zipper fastener and in which one or more pictures may be encased in a. protected position against damage while the holder is being handled.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view illustrating one form of the picture holder.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof taken on a line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a view in elevation of a modified shape of the holder, and
Figure 4 is a side elevational view thereof.
Referring now to the drawing in detail wherein for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention the numeral 5 designates the body of the picture holder which may be of substantially rectangular shape as shown in Figure 1 of the drawings to constitute a finger gripping tab and provided at one end with a ring 6 for attaching the holder to a zipper fastener, chain or the like.
The body 5 of the holder may be constructed of clear or colored plastic, Lucite or other suitable material and is formed at its central ortion with an opening 1 extending therethrough.
A pair of pictures 8 are positioned in the opening 1 in back-to-back relation and secured in position therein by transparent plugs 9 cemented in the opening 1 or otherwise suitably secured therein.
The plugs 9 are of a thickness sufl'icient to project outwardly at the surface of the body 5 to provide finger gripping edges ID to facilitate removal of the plugs, when desired.
In Figures 3 and 4 of the drawing the body 1 l of the picture holder is of square shape with an attaching ring I2 secured at one corner thereof whereby the holder may be used as a pendant or other ornament.
In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construotion, operation and advantages of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.
It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claim.
I claim as my invention:
A picture holder comprising a fiat body having an opening therethrough with fiat sides in the opening adapted to receive a pair of pictures in back-to-back relation and transparent plugs having flat sides complemental to the first mentioned flat sides positioned in the opening at each side of the body to secure the pictures therein, said plugs projecting outwardly at the respective sides of the body to provide finger gripping means at the edges of the plug and the said sides engagin. each other for unobstructed passage of the plugs in removal thereof from the opening.
JOHN F. KRATKOWSKI.
