4- Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a dentured mold flask and in a compress for holding denture mold flasks under compression during the curing process of the contents.
An object of my device is adenture mold flask, hereinatterreferred to as a flask, consisting generally'of three sections hereinaiter referred to as the cover, the upper flask the lower flask section.
Another objectis a flask whose lower flask section includes an ejector plate for ejecting the investment without the need of gouging orsevere blows;
Another object-is a flask whose lower flask section includes an ejector platewhich can be firmly and accurately seatedinto position during the processingoperatic-ns such that any possibility of shifting or settling of the ejector plate when pressure is applied is completely eliminated;
Another object is 'acompress into which two flasks may be placed oneon top of the other such that a compressing force may he maintained during the curing process of the denture mold.
Another object is a compress for holding two flasks in compression which contains also the features of an ejector for ejecting the investment from the upper flask section.
Other objects and advantages reside in the stalls of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, refer ence being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure l is a perspective view of a portion of the present invention in use as a compress showing also two flasks in position for compression during the curing process;
Figure 2 is an enlarged vertical section of a flask along line 2-4 of Figure 1, showing also the three sections separated containing investments, and showing also a wrench engaged in the process of ejecting the investment from the lower flask section;
Figure 3 is an elevation view of the present invention in use as an ejector for the investment in the upper flask section showing also an upper flask section containing an investment to be ejected, and a Wrench employed in the ejecting process;
Figure 4 is a vertical section along line 4-4 of Figure 3 showing also the invention in the process of ejecting the investment from the upper flask section, and
Figure 5 is a sectional view of the invention in use as an ejector for the upper section of the flaskbeing' takenalong the line 5-5 of Figure 3, showing also-a portion of the upper flask section in position for ejection process.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the numeral 5 represents generally acompress consisting essentiallyof a solid metalirame consistmg of a pairof oppositely disposed side walls 6, a top member 3 containing a centrally located threaded bored and a bottom containing circular recesses for compression springs l 5-.
A pressure plate in being circular in shape is attached toasocket screw it by means of a swivel 1ugl-3 permitting independent rotation of plate 54. Socket screw l-ilisthreaded through threadedbore 9 forvertioal adjustment.
A wrench H is turned horizontally at l2 whereby the wrench may be rotated horizontally in a' circular motion. The wrench is of the hexagon socket wrench type being removable and fittingboth socket screw ii! and ejector screw 23, best seeninFigure 2.
A springplate' I5 is supported vertically by two circularcompression type's'prings' it which are seatedin'circularrecesses in the bottom portion l of the frame.
A pair of oppositely disposed'lugsi "I project inwardlyfrom" the innerf'aces it of the side walls 6 adapted-to be received in a pair of grooves l9 in opposite sides of the upper flask section 2d of the flask;
Figurezin'clicates generally a sectional view of a flask taken as along the line2'2 of Figure 1. The fiaskconsists of what mightbe called a cover 21, a lower section 26 and an upper section 20. The flask is approximately circular in shape being flat at the top and at the bottom. The lower section contains a circular disc 22 having its outer edge beveled as at 29 being precision machined and constructed to seat squarely and solidly in the beveled seat 28. The disc 22 of the lower section 26 of the flask is attached by means of a swivel lug 25 to a socket head screw 23 threaded through a centrally located threaded bore 24 in the lower section 26 of the flask. The swivel lug 25 of disc 22 permits free rotation of the socket screw 23 by means of wrench ll thus adjusting the disc 22 vertically.
Figure 2 shows also an investment 2| in the upper section 20 of the flask and an investment 3%] in the lower section 26 of the flask.
To operate the device as a compress the dental technician would desire to place two complete flasks, containing investments, under compression for a curing process. The compress is designed to accommodate two flasks, one being placed on top of the other as in Figure 1, resting on the spring plate in the compression position. Revolving wrench H in a clockwise direction causes pressure plate It to exert a downward force on the flasks thus compressing springs Hi. When the curing process has been performed a counter-clockwise rotation of wrench I I will relieve the compression permitting the flasks to be removed for further processing.
To operate the device as an ejector for the investment in the upper section of the flask, the section 20 is placed in the compress frame 5, as shown in Figure 3, and is held by lugs I! with the investment centered as in Figure 5. Rotate the wrench H in a clockwise direction causing pressure plate 14 to come in contact with the investment 2|, as in Figure 4, forcing the investment 2| through the lower opening of the upper flask section 20.
To prepare the lower flask section 26 for the process of loading the flask with the investment, clean the section 26 with disc 22 in the raised position, seat the disc 22 in the seat 28 of the lower flask section by rotating socket screw 22 in a counter-clockwise direction by means of wrench ll, used also on the compress, until the disc 22 is firmly seated. This firm solid seating is vitally important and will prevent faulty dentures due to tilting or settling of the bottom of the flask arising from careless assembly or foreign matter being compressed in the seating surface when pressure is applied in the compress.
To operate the disc 22 of the lower flask section 26 as an ejector for the investment in this section, place wrench H in the socket of the socket screw 23 and rotate in a clockwise direction. The investment will easily and cleanly break free of the flask section, all hammering or gouging having been avoided.
In View of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the essentials of construction and operation of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art.
It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is: 1. The combination of a denture mold flask and a compress therefor, said flask including an annular flask section open at each end, circumferentially spaced slots in said section and laterally extending ribs formed on the compress and fitted in the slots for supporting the section in an elevated position in the compress, and a vertically movable pressure plate carried by the compress and operable to remove an investment from the section.
2. A denture mold flask comprising upper and lower superposed sections adapted to receive an investment, a cover for the upper section, an ejector plate recessed in the bottom of the lower section, a lug extending downwardly from the underside of the plate, a sleeve threaded in the bottom of the lower section, clamping fingers extending upwardly from the sleeve and secured on the lug, and a horizontally swingable handle detachably connected to said sleeve and operable to actuate the plate in an ejecting movement.
3. A denture mold fiask comprising upper and lower superposed sections adapted to receive an investment, a cover for the upper section, an ejector plate recessed in the bottom of the lower section and having a downwardly extending integral lug formed on the underside thereof, a socket member threaded in the bottom of the lower section lateral fingers on the upper portion of the socket member, said fingers being secured on the lug, and a horizontally swingable handle removably engaged in the socket member and operable to actuate the socket member and the ejector plate in an ejecting movement.
4. In combination with a compress comprising a pair of vertical side walls, a connecting bottom wall and top wall, a denture mold flask detachably locked between the side walls, a vertical recess formed centrally in the bottom wall, a spring mounted in the recesses, a plate slidably mounted on the side walls and bearing against the spring.
