This invention relates to a pin curl clip of the type adapted for use in securing a spirally wound strand of hair.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a pin curl clip which is relatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture and which will not readily get out of order.
It is a further object of this invention to provide a pin curl clip consisting of a pair of hair clamping members pivotally connected intermediate their ends by means of a pair of resilient fingers formed on one of the members for engagement with laterally extending bosses formed on the other member, the resilient lingers acting to yieldably resist opening movement of the members.
This invention further contemplates the provision of a pin curl clip embodying a pair of members pivotally connected intermediate their ends to provide hair clamping portions and linger gripping portions, the hair clamping portions being normally in contacting engagement and movable to open position by means of the linger gripping portions.
This invention embodies other novel features, details of construction and arrangement of parts which are hereinafter set forth in the speciiication andy claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Fig. 4 is a side elevational view of same.
Fig. 5 is a detail top plan view showing the lower curl clip member.
Fig. 6 is a sideelevational view of same.
Referring now to the drawing for a better understanding of this invention, the pin curl clip is shown as comprising an upper member 5 and a lower member l which are preferably blanked from resilient metal, such as high carbon steel. The upper member is formed with an elongated hair clamping portion 3, an intermediate hinge portion 8 disposed at an angle of approximately 45 from the plane of the hair clamping portion 8, and a iinger engaging portion ll disposed in a plane substantially normal to the plane of the intermediate hinge portion 9. The forward end of the hair clamping portion 8 terminates in a pair of spaced, wedge-shaped 1ingers i12-l2 which are inclined upwardly at an angle from the plane of the hair clamping portion 8. The intermediate pivot portion 9 is the clip members and a spirally Wound lock oi'A hair interposed therebetween.
The lower clip member 'l is formed with a hair clamping portion i8, a nger gripping portion il and a pair of resilient fingers lS-l8, the ngers lli-i8 projecting rearwardly from the hair clamping portion l along opposite sides of the nger gripping portion il. The hair clamping portion i6 is preferably formed with a pair of spaced elongated fingers iii-lg having their forward ends pointed. The free ends of the resilient lingers lE-lS are formed arcuate at {il-2i to receive and engage their respective pivot bosses iii-i3 formed on the upper member ii. In assembly of the upper and lower members and l', the pivot bosses l-ES are inserted under the arcuate portions fil-2l of the resilient ngers IB-ES. In opening or closing the hair clamping portions 8 and l5 of the members 6 and l respectively, it will be noted that the juncture point 22 of the pivot portion 9 and iinger gripping portion l l serves as a ulcrum for the member 6.
While this invention has been shown in but one form, it is obvious to those skilled in the art that it is not so limited but is susceptible of various changes and modifications without departing from the spirit and scope of the claimed invention.
We claim as our invention:
l. In a pin curl clip, an upper member comprising a hair clamping portion, an intermediate portion, a finger gripping portion, pivot bosses projecting outwardly from opposite side edges of said intermediate portion, said iinger gripping portion being disposed in a plane substantially normal to the plane of said intermediate portion to provide a fulcrum edge 'for said upper member, a lower member comprising a hair ciamping portion, a ringer gripping portion, and pair of resilient fingers projecting rearwardly from said hair clamping portion along opposite side edges of said ringer gripping portion ior engagement with said pivot bosses to yieldably resist pivotal opening movement of said upper member relative to said lower member, the free ends of said resilient iingers being bent into arcuate form to provide bearing surfaces to receive and prevent accidental displacement of the pivot bosses formed on the intermediate portion of said upper member, the arcuately bent resilient lingers having a curve that is greater than the locus oi the pivot bosses about the iulorum.

In a pin curl clip, an upper member comprising a hair clamping portion, an intermediate portion, a finger gripping portion, pivot bosses projecting outwardly from opposite side edges oi said intermediate portion, said finger gripping portion being disposed in a plane substantially normal to the plane of said intermediate portion to provide a iulcrum edge for said upper member, a lower member comprising a hair clamping portion, a finger gripping portion, and a pair of resilient fingers projecting rearwardly from said hair clamping portion along opposite side edges of said finger gripping portion for engagement with said pivot bosses to yieldably resist pivotal opening movement of said upper member relative to said lower member, the free ends of said resilient ngers being bent into arcuate form to provide bearing surfaces to receive and prevent accidental displacement of the pivot bosses formed on the intermediate portion oi said upper member, the arouately bent resilient fingers having a curve that is greater than the locus oi the pivot bosses about the ulcrum, the hair clamping portion and nnger gripping portion of said lower member being disposed in a common plane.

In a pin curl clip, an upper member comprising a hair clamping portion, an intermediate portion, a finger gripping portion, pivot bosses projecting outwardly from opposite side edges of said intermediate portion, said finger gripping portion being disposed in a plane substantially normal to the piane of said intermediate portion to provide a ulcrum edge for said upper member, a lower member comprising a hair clamping portion, a linger gripping portion, and a pair of resilient iingers projecting rearwardly :from said hair clamping portion along opposite side edges oi said linger gripping portion for engagement with said pivot bosses to yieidably resist pivotal opening movement of said upper member relative to said lower member, the free ends of said resilient fingers being bent into arcuate form to provide bearing surfaces to receive and prevent accidental displacement of the pivot bosses formed on the intermediate portion of said upper member, the arcuately bent resilient fingers having a curve that is greater than the locus of the pivot bosses about the ulcrum, the hair d, clamping portion and iinger gripping portion of said lower member being disposed in a common plane, the hair clamping portion of said lower member being bifuroated to provide a pair of elongated iingers arranged in spaced parallel relation.
e. In a pin curl clip, an upper member comprising a hair clamping portion, an intermediate portion, a linger gripping portion, pivot bosses projecting outwardly from opposite side edges of said intermediate portion, said finger gripping portion being disposed in a plane substantially normal to the plane of said intermediate portion to provide a fulcrum edge for said upper meinber, a lower member comprising a hair clamping portion, a finger gripping portion, and a pair of resilient fingers projecting rearwardly from said hair clamping portion along opposite side edges of said linger gripping portion for engagement with said pivot bosses to yieldably resist pivotal opening movement of said upper member relative to said lower member, the free ends of said resilient fingers being bent into arcuate form to provide bearing surfaces to receive and prevent accidental displacement of the pivot bosses formed on the intermediate portion of said upper member, the arcuately bent resilient fingers having a curve that is greater than the locus oi' the pivot bosses about the fulcrum, the hair clamping portion and finger gripping portion of said lower member being disposed in a common plane, the hair clamping portion of said lower member being biureated to provide a pair of elongated iingers arranged in spaced parallel relation, the hair clamping portion of said upper member being formed with a pair of wedge-shaped fingers inclined outwardly and upwardly from the plane of said hair clamping portion.
