This trench jack 39 is preferably firmly secured adjacent the back wall of the bin or car to be unloaded, and trained over the pulley 4| and the bucket retracting pulley 32 is a cable 42, one end of which is attached to the rear side of a drag bucket 43, while the opposite end of said cable is trained over an idler pulley 44 and thence downwardly to be wound upon a winding drum 45.
The drum 45 is mounted to rotate in a suitable bracket 46 carried by the base l and it will be seen that when the cable 42 is wound thereon, pull will be exerted on the bucket 43 to move it toward the back of the bin or car in which the device is being used.
A bucket advancing cable 41 is attached to the bail 48 of the drag bucket 43 and is trained over the pulley 21 from whence it passes longitudinally along the underside of the boom to an idler pulley 49 mounted between the standards I I at the forward end of the base Ill. The cable 41 then passes downwardly to a winding drum 50 mounted for rotation in a pair of spaced brackets carried by the base l0. It will thus be seen that when the cable 41 is wound upon the drum 50 the drag bucket 43 will be moved toward the boom and away from the back wall of the bin or car.
A prime mover 52 is mounted on the base In and has driving connection with a gear train 53 through the medium of a drive belt 54. The gear train is connected through a series of clutches to the drive shafts of the drums 31, 45 and 50 controlled respectively by clutch levers 55, 56 and 51 that it extends transversely across the open front side of the bin in which the material to be unloaded is confined. The lever 55 is then manipulated to set the drum 31 in operation to wind the cable thereon and hence mov the carriage 2| to the desired position in front of the bin. Having thus positioned the carriage and the bucket advancing and sustaining roller 21 to its proper place in front of the bin, the hand lever 56 is manipulated to cause the drum to be driven so as to wind the cable 42 thereon. The taking up of the cable 42 causes the bucket 43 to be moved toward the rear wall of the bin over the material contained therein, and when the bucket has been moved to a point near the rear wall of the bin or car, rotation of the drum 45 is stopped and the lever 51 is then manipulated to set the drum into motion to wind the cable 41 thereon and cause the bucket 43 to scrape the contents of the bin toward the front thereof, simultaneously fill-.

While in'the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim:
1. A device for moving bulk materials from a bin or the like having side walls, a back wall and an open front, which includes, a boom mounted to move in a rectilinear path into a position to extend across the open front of the bin in spaced parallel relation to and above the plane of the bottom thereof, a, bucket advancing and sustaining pulley movable longitudinall of the boom, a bucket retracting pulley on the boom, a guide pulley adapted to be fixed in the bin near its rear end, a bucket advancing and sustaining cable extending around the bucket advancing and sustaining pulley, a bucket retracting cable extending around the bucket retracting pulley and the guide pulley and a drag bucket connected to the adjacent ends of the cables.

A device for moving bulk materials from a bin or the like having side walls, a back wall and an open front, which includes a boom mounted to move in a rectilinear path into a position to extend across the open front of the bin in spaced parallel relation to and above the plane of the bottom thereof, a carriage movable longitudinally of the boom, a bucket advancing and sustaining 6 pulley carried by the carriage, a; bucket retract-' ing pulley on the boom, a trench jack anchored transverselyo'f the bin near its rear wall, a guide. pulley carried by the trench jack, abucket advancing and sustaining cable extending around the bucket advancing-and sustaining pulley, a bucket retracting' cable extending around the bucket retractingpulley and the guide pulley and adrag-bucket connected to adjacent ends of the cables", and means to shift the carriage lon gitudinally of the boom, and power driven drums upon which the' opposite ends of the cables are adapted to be wound.-

A device for moving'bulkmaterials from a binor-the like having side walls, a back wall and an open front, which includes a boom mounted to move in a rectilinear path into a position to extend across the open front of the bin in spaced parallel relation to and above the plane of the bottom thereof, a carriage movable longitudinally of the boom, a bucket advancing and sustaining pulley carried by the carriage, a bucket retracting pulley on the boom, a trench jack anchored transversely of the bin near its rear wall, a guide pulley carried by the trench jack, a bucket advancing and sustaining cable extending around the bucket advancing and sustaining pulley, a bucket retracting cable extending around the bucket retracting pulley and the guide pulley and a drag bucket connected to adjacent ends of the cables, and power driven means selectively to exert pull on the opposite ends of the cables.

A device for moving bulk materials from a bin or the like having side walls, a back wall and an open front, which includes, a boom mounted to move in a rectilinear path into a position to extend across the open front of the bin in spaced parallel relation to and above the plane of the bottom thereof, a bucket advancing and sustaining pulley movable longitudinally of the boom, a bucket retracting pulley on the boom, a guide pulley adapted to be fixed in the bin near its rear end, a bucket advancing and sustaining cable extending around the bucket advancing and sustaining pulley, a bucket retracting cable extending around the bucket retracting pulley and the guide pulley and a drag bucket connected to the adjacent ends of the cables, and power driven means to move the bucket advancing and sustaining pulley longitudinally of the boom.

A device for moving bulk materials from a bin or the like having side walls, a back wall and an open front, which includes a boom mounted to move in a rectilinear path into a position to extend across the open front of the bin in spaced parallel relation to and above the plane of the bottom thereof, a carriage movable longitudinally of the boom, a bucket advancing and sustaining pulley carried by the carriage, a bucket retracting pulley on the boom, a trench jack anchored transversely of the bin near its rear wall, a guide pulley carried by the trench jack, a bucket advancing and sustaining cable extending around the bucket advancing and sustaining pulley, a bucket retracting cable extending around the bucket retracting pulley and the guide pulley and a drag bucket connected to adjacent ends of the cables, and power driven means to move the carriage longitudinally of the boom.

A device for moving bulk materials from a bin or the like having side walls, a back wall and an open front, which includes a boom mounted to move in a rectilinear path into a position to extend across the open front of the bin in spaced parallel relation to and above the plane of the bottom thereof, a carriage movable longitudinally of the boom, a bucket advancing and sustaining pulley pivotally supported on the carriage to swing about an axis parallel with the longitudinal axis of the boom, a guide pulley adapted to be fixed in the bin near its rear end, a bucket advancing and sustaining cable extending around the bucket advancing and sustaining pulley, a bucket retracting cable extending around the bucket retracting pulley and the guide pulley and a drag bucket connected to the adjacent ends of the cables.

A device for moving bulk materials from a bin or the-like having side walls, a back wall and an open front, which includes a boom mounted to move in a rectilinear path into a position to extend across the open front of the bin in spaced parallel relation to and above the plane of the bottom thereof, a carriage movable longitudinally of the boom, a bucket advancing and sustaining pulley pivotally supported on the carriage to swing about an axis parallel with the longitudinal axis of the boom, a guide pulley adapted to be fixed in the bin near its rear end, a bucket advancing and sustaining cable extending around the bucket advancing and sustaining pulley, a bucket retracting cable extending around the bucket retracting pulley and the guide pulley and a drag bucket connected to the adjacent ends of the cables, power driven means to move the carriage longitudinally of the boom and power driven drums upon which the opposite ends of the cables are adapted to be wound.
