2-.Claims. 1
This invention relates to improvements in garment construction and has particular reference to a garment to which a sanitary pad maybe attached and in which garment additional pads may be stored and carried.
The principal object of this invention is to produce a garment which to all intents and purposes has the appearance of a girdle when worn and also accommodates for the securing of a sanitary pad as Well as an apron with extra pads stored therein in such manner that the girdle will be comfortable to wear and producing no unsightly bulges at the point where the additional pads are stored.
A further object is to produce a garment which is economical to manufacture, one which can be readily manipulated in dressing and undressing and one which may be cleaned in the customary manner.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course f the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Fig. 1 is a plan view of my garment as the same would appear before the front and back portions are stitched together.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of garment as viewed from the front.
Fig. 3 is a similar view of the garment as viewed from the back.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged apron portion, and
Fig. 5 is a cross sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 4.
customarily, corsets, girdles and the like are worn by women for the purpose of support and improvement of the figure of the wearer and it is also the custom to attach, at certain periods, sanitary pads and sanitary aprons which must be changed periodically. It has therefore been the usual practice to carry additional sanitary pads in a purse, thus cluttering up the purse and causing embarrassment when the same is opened.
Applicant has provided a new form of garment construction wherein pockets are formed at the anterior surface of each groin, within which pockets additional pads may be stored in such a manner that they will follow the natural contour of the body and will not, therefore, produce unsightly bulges and will be instantly available when needed.
Applicant has also provided arrangement which is attached the completed plan view of the sanitary a sanitary apron to the garment,
which apron will also hold the pad in proper contact with the body, thus giving complete protection against any possible soiling of clothing.
This apron may also be detached and used with a belt if desired during the night.
In the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred em-' bodiment of my invention, particularly referring to Fig. 1, it will be noted that I have formed a front portion 5 and a :back portion 6 which when joined and stitched together form a body encircling garment, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
The curved portions 1 and 8 form the leg encircling portions of the garment. A crotch portion may extend between the front and the back if desired.
Pockets 9 and H are formed upon the inner surface of the front portion, in which pockets additional pads may be stored. These pads will lie within the groins and will therefore not form objectional bulges upon the body of the wearer.
The sanitary apron as shown in Fig. 4 consists of a blank l2 having fasteners l3 at the opposite ends thereof and also fasteners Id at the opposite sides thereof, which fasteners permit the apron to .be attached to the garment as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3.
Secured to the blank I2 are semicircular pieces l 6 and H which form packets into which the ends of a sanitary pad are placed.
It will thus be apparent that when the garment is in place and the parts are arranged as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the pad with its ends positioned in the pockets formed by the pieces I6 and I! will be tightly and comfortably held against the body; also, by unfastening one end of the apron, shown in Fig. 4, that a soiled pad may be removed and another taken from either of the and placed in the apron pocket, after which the apron may again be attached to the garment.
It will thus be seen that my garment accomplishes all of the objects above set forth.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the material, size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A garment comprising a front portion and a back portion, said garment being adapted to encircle the body of the wearer, the front portion of the garment being formed to extend downwardly between the wearers groins, an impervious pockets 9, I2.
apron detachably secured to said front portion and said back portion, opposed pockets formed in said apron and capable of housing the ends of a sanitary pad, and pockets formed on the inner portion of said front portion for the purpose of holding additional sanitary pads for use in said apron.
2. A garment comprising a front portion and a back portion each of said portions having a curved portion whereby, when said front portion and said back portion are joined to form a bodyencircling garment, said curved portions will form leg openings, and groin pockets formed in said 'front portion, the lower portion of each groin pocket being curved to fit the corresponding curved leg opening, the respective said groin pockets :being positioned on respectively opposite sides of the medial line of said front portion whereby pads positioned therein will fit into the REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
