1 Claim.

My invention relates to lamps, and more particularly to portable electric lamps for use in homes, offlces, etc.

The principal object of the present invention is to provide an electric lamp with means for holding a plurality of smokers pipes in a location for convenient use.

A further object of the invention is to provide a lamp, of the character aforesaid, with a device for supporting a plurality of smokers pipes, so mounted on the lamp as to permit the same to be readily turned for the purpose of selecting a particular pipe.

A further object of the invention is to provide a lamp, of the character aforesaid, with means for supporting a plurality of smokers pipes in such location that the same will be illuminated by the light of the lamp thereby to facilitate the selection of a particular pipe.

A further object of the invention is to provide a lamp, of the character aforesaid, with pipe supporting means placed in proximity to the lamp bulbs, whereby the heat from the lamp bulbs will accelerate the drying of the pipes after the same have been used.

The nature and characteristic features of the invention will be more readily understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, in which Figure 1 is a view, partly in elevation and partly in section, of a table lamp embodying the main features of the present invention;

Fig. 2 is a horizontal section thereof, taken approximately on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and

Fig. 3 is a horizontal plan of the upper portion of the pipe supporting means, the central stem of the lamp being shown in section.

It should, of course, be understood that the description and drawing herein are illustrative merely and that various changes and modifications may be made in the structure disclosed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawing, in the particular embodiment of the invention therein shown, 9 is a base member which may be of any particular shape or form desired. As shown in the drawing the base member 9 comprises a spider having a plurality of legs l0, preferably three in number, and a central boss ll into which the lower end of a vertical tube I2 is threaded as at 8.

The upper end of the tube l2 carries the lamp bulbs, shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, which may be mounted thereon in any preferred manner.

The lamp bulbs are encompassed by a lamp shade l3, which may also be of any desired shape or form. v

The hollow interior of the tube l2 permits the disposal therein of the wires, not shown, for conducting the electrical current to the lamp bulbs.

The boss I I, which is carried by the base member I0, provides a convenient shoulder for the rotative mounting thereon of a device for supporting smokers pipes, said device having a lower disc member l4 provided with a plurality of depressions I-5 into which the bowl portions of the pipes are adapted to be positioned.

The lower disc member I4 is joined to a vertical sleeve l6 which surrounds the central tube l2 of the lamp structure and supports another disc member I! at the upper end thereof. The disc member I! is provided with a plurality of openings l8 corresponding radially with the depressions l5 in the lower disc I. The openings 18 are for the purpose of receiving the stem portions of the smokers pipes.

The pipe supporting device is preferably provided with seven depressions IS in the lower disc member 14, and seven corresponding openings [8 in the upper disc member I! so that seven pipes may be supported whereby the user may be provided with a pipe for each day of the week.

When it is desired to select a particular pipe, the supporting device is rotated to bring the desired pipe to a convenient point whereupon the same may be readily removed from the supporting device in an obvious manner.

While the invention has been illustrated as embodied in a table lamp, it will of course be obvious that the same may be embodied in other forms, such as bridge lamps or floor lamps.

I claim:

A lamp structure comprising a base member, a central tube extending upwardly therefrom for supporting lamp bulbs and a shade, and a device rotatably mounted on the central tube having a lower disc-like member provided with a plurality of spaced depressions adapted to receive the bowls of the smokers pipes, an upper disc-like portion provided with a plurality of similarly spaced openings to receive the stem portions of said smokers pipes, and a sleeve surrounding the central tube and connecting the upper and lower disc-like portions, said rotatable device being positioned below the lamp bulbs, and in such location that said lamp bulbs will illuminate the pipes for selection thereof and subject said pipes to a mild degree of heat and air circulation when not in use.
