1 Claim.
The invention relates to a paint brush holder, and more especially to a paint bucket attachment for holding a paint brush.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of an attachment of this character, wherein the same can be readily and conveniently mounted on a paint bucket, so that when a paint brush is at rest, it will be held in a position to have the drippings flow into the bucket, and thus keep the paint from the handle of such brush while not in use.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an attachment of this character, wherein the same is readily and easily adjusted according to the size of the brush to be held thereby, and also enables the brush to be disposed at rest so that it can be readily acquired when necessary for painting purposes.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an attachment of this character, wherein -it can be conveniently located on the side wall of the paint bucket and firmly secured to the same, without the use or service of tools, the attachment being of novel construction and is unique in the arrangement of its parts, which are few in number.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of an attachment of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efiicient in operation, strong, durable, readily and easily applied and removed, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointedout in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the attachment constructed in accordance with the invention;
Figure 2 is a side view of a paint bucket, showing in elevation and partly broken away, the attachment applied to the bucket.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the attachment constituting the present invention comprises therein, a winged head set screw l5, which binds against the wall I l of the bucket A for the firm and secure fastening of the member in place thereon and in a horizontal position above the open top of such bucket.
Superimposed upon the shank or stem ll of the member is a substantially L-shaped bracket, having the branches l6 and I1 respectively at substantially right angles to each other, the branch l1 being upstanding and is provided with a vertical fork or yoke l8 for receiving the handle [9 of a paint brush 2!), which at the bristle portion 2| is adapted to rest onto the head Ill of the T-shaped member, as best seen in Figure 2 of the drawing, so that drippings from the bristles will flow back into bucket A, as the brush is inclined in its direction.
The branch 18 of the bracket is formed with an elongated slot 22 therein in the direction of its length for adjustably accommodating a nut-carrying bolt 23, which is cleared through the shank or stem ll of the T-shaped member, so that the said bracket and the latter can be adjusted relative to each other in accordance with the size in length of the brush to be brought to rest on the attachment, the set screw l5 being for the purpose of allowing the attachment to be properly located on the bucket A, as should be obvious.
It will also be apparent that the cross arm l0 forming a straightedge may be used to remove excess paint from the brush by drawing the bristles across the straightedge whereupon the excess paint will be returned to the paint bucket A.
What is claimed is:
A paint brush holder comprising a cross arm, a shank extending centrally and integrally from said cross arm, a pair of spaced parallel clamping jaws depending from said shank, said clamping jaws adapted to receive therebetween the Walls positions along said shank, a bar portion termi- 10 2,325,595
nating said L-shaped bracket in a plane substantially normal to the plane containing said cross arm, and spaced branch portions extending parallel from the ends of said bar portion.
