Description

J. RASHKO TISSUE HOLDER Nov. 1, 1949.
Filed July 2. 1946 Patented Nov. 1, 1949 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE TISSUE HOLDER John Rashko, Leroy, N. Y.
Application July 2, 1946, Serial No. 681,037
This invention relates to improvements in tissue holders.
An object of the invention is to provide. an improved one piece support or holder forv a roll of toilet tissue.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved bracket for supporting a roll of toilet tissue whereby the roll may be easily slipped or placed on the bracket in such a manner that the roll will be supported by an arm extending longitudinally through the core member of the roll, and will have oppositely disposed arms at the opposite ends of the first mentioned arm to -limit the endwise movement of said roll.
A further object of the invention is to provide a one piece metal or plastic tissue holder which will be so shaped that a roll of. toilet tissue may be placed thereon or removed therefrom with one hand, said holder being adapted to Iextend in parallel spaced relation to the Wall to which it will be supported to provide a longitudinally extending central support for said roll, and oppositely extending end members adapted to respectively engage the upper and outer end of the roll and the lower inner end of said roll to positively position the same upon said holder.
Another obgect of the invention is to provide an improved one piece toilet tissue roll supporting holder which will be highly efficient in use, and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.
Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved tissue holder showing a roll of toilet tissue in dotted lines supported thereon;
Figure 2 is a front elevation kof the improved tissue holder, and
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the improved tissue holder.
Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specication and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.
In carrying out the invention, there is provided an improved toilet tissue holder including a base or attaching plate I, which is apertured at 2 toI provide for the reception of attaching screws (not shown) for mounting the said tissue holder on a wall.
The base plate I integrally supports a forwardly extending arm or elongated body 3 at right angles thereto, upon the outer end of which the roll supporting arm 4 is integrally formed to extend at right angles to the body 3 but in parallel relation with the base plate I.
The opposite sides of the roll supporting arm 4 are bent downwardly to provide reinforcing anges 5 and 6 for the supporting arm 4 and to 1 Claim. (Cl. 242-552) form spaced bearing surfaces upon which the inner wall or surface of the cardboard backing tube 'I of the roll of toilet tissue 8 will be supported. The inner ends of the flanges 5 and E abut the body 3 as shown in Fig. 1. The arm 4 is bent upwardly at its outer end to provide an end limiting stop or ear 9 for the roll 8 when in position upon the said arm 4.
From the foregoing description, it will be apparent that when the tissue. holder is supported upon a wall (not shown), a roll of toilet tissue :may be slid over the end limiting stop 9 in an inward direction until the full length of the roll is supported upon the arm 4, at which time the stop 9 will limit the outward movement of the roll 8, and the body 3 will extend downwardly on the inside end of the roll 8 to limit its inward movement.
From the foregoing description, it will be apparent that there has been provided a highly emcient form of toilet tissue holder which will comprise an integral construction which will be so arranged and constructed that a roll of toilet tissue may be placed upon the holder or removed therefrom by one hand.
While the preferred embodiment of the instant invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A holder for a roll of toilet tissue comprising an elongated body, said body having an angulated end portion providing an attaching base, a supporting arm projecting outwardly from said body and disposed intermediate the ends of said body, the longitudinal axis of said support arm being disposed at right angles to the longitudinal axis of said body, and the outer extremity of said support arm being angulated to provide a stop ear, said support arm including a pair of spaced depending reinforcing flanges, one end of each of said iianges abutting said body.
