This invention relates to a dental kita packet for transporting a tooth brush and dentifrice.

The invention is particularly devised to obviate certain annoyances and hazards attending the transportation of the necessary equipment for dental hygiene.

Accordingly, among the objects of this invention are those of providing in a container for transporting personal dental equipment, the following several features: compactness; unitary enclosure of tooth brush and dentifrice; substantial elimination of the hazard of accidental unclosure of the dentifrice; simplicity and convenience in handling; and susceptibility to economical production.

These and other desirable objects implicit in this specification are achieved by the invention herein described and shown in the appended drawings, in which:

Figure l is a perspective view of an assembled dental kit suitably embodying said invention;

Figure 2 is a perspective view of the container elements of said kit in partially separated relation; and

Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view of an assembled kit, taken at the region of the cap of the inner cartridge thereof.

As shown in Figure 1 the complete dental kit comprises an outer case 6, an inner cartridge Ill and a tooth brush l4.

Figure 2 portrays only the container elements: the case 6 and cartridge 10. In the particular embodiment shown case 6 is a tube of circular cross section, closed at one end and open at the other; the lip 6a of its open end is externally threaded to receive a fitting internally threaded cap 8. The interior length of tube 6 and cap 8 when assembled is at least great enough to contain tooth brush l4 longitudinally therein; for economy of space, this internal length preferably does not appreciably exceed the length of tooth brush I4.

Inner cartridge I is generally concavo-convex or crescent-shaped. Convex segment Illa, which forms the major portion of its periphery, is of a radius slightly smaller than that of the interior wall of case 6 so that cartridge [0 may be slidably admitted into case 6. Concave segment lob is of such size and shape as to form with the adjacent wall of case 6 a double-convex section, of such size as to receive the handle [4a of tooth brush I4 snugly (see Figure 3). The cross-sectional space of case 6 is thus substantially completely utilized.

Cartridge I0 is provided with a conforming cap H which may suitably be retained in place on cartridge l0 merely by friction. The length of cartridge I 0 is less than that of the interior of case 6 by a distance equal to or slightly greater than the length of the head Nb of tooth brush l4, so that when the kit is assembled and cap 8 secured in place, cap [2 is restrained in position on cartridge H) by head Mb, as may be seen in Figure 1,

Cartridge [0 may be filled with either powdered or liquid dentifrice, as desired. As will be apparent from the order of its size relative to standard tooth brush 14 (Figure 1) its capacity is roughly a thirty days supply of dentifrice for a single user (two applications a day)ample for all but the most extended travel.

Preferably both case 6 and cartridge 10 are formed of transparent material, such as polystyrene, so that the dentifrice within cartridge lfl will be visible and its quantity readily ascertainable by exterior inspection.

It will thus be perceived that this invention accomplishes the objectives hereinbefore established by providing a dental kit possessing each of the denominated desirable qualities. Although but one particular embodiment of the invention has been shown and described, it will be understood that it is merely illustrative and not restrictive of the invention.

I claim:

A dental kit including a toothbrush having a substantially straight handle portion and a brush portion extending generally perpendicularly from said handle portion near one end thereof, an outer container and positive-lock-type cap together defining a carrying compartment for the brush, an inner container and friction-fit-type cap of substantially uniform cross-sectional shape placeable within said carrying compartment in a position to be opposite said handle portion and generally conforming to that portion of said compartment opposite said handle portion, and the length of the inner container with its cap and the length of the brush portion together being equal to the interior length of the outer container whereby the brush portion forms an abutment restraining the friction-fit-type cap against slipping off the inner container.
