1 Claim.
The invention relates to a drawer or shelf mounting, and more especially to a roller bearing drawer or shelf mounting for a refrigerator, cabinet or other enclosure.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a mounting of this character, wherein a shelf or drawer can be movably supported, so that it will freely slide and be firmly supported when confined within the enclosure therefor, the mounting being of novel construction and involves roller bearing action, so as to prevent undue Wear through friction with resultant freedom of movement to the drawer or shelf.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a mounting of this character, wherein the runner at each side of the drawer or shelf operates against roller or ball bearings throughout the extent of full movement of the same, thus enabling the said drawer or shelf free movements, and thereby minimizing exertion on the part of an operator thereof.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a mounting of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eicient in its purpose, strong, durable, enabling quick and easy adjustment of the drawer or shelf, possessed of few parts, readily accessible, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which show the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a fragmentary sectional view of an enclosure taken on the line I-I of Figure 2 looking in the direction of the arrows, showing the mounting constructed in accordance with the invention, as applied.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 2 2 of Figure 1 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 2 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary perspective view taken from the line 4 4 of Figure 2 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings in detail, A designates generally a portion of an enclosure, such as the case of a refrigerator, cabinet or the like, having a door opening Ill, through which move drawers, shelves or the like Il, each being of any approved construction, excepting that it must be provided with a rod-like runner I2 at each side edge thereof.
At the interior of the enclosure A upon each inner side wall face thereof consistent to the point for the location of the drawer or shelf II is a horizontally arranged mounting therefor, as constituting the present invention, which comprises a tubiform guide section I3, which slidably accommodates the runners I2, these being round in cross-section, and each section is formed with a longitudinal slot I4 forming a clearance for the connecting portions I5 for uniting the runners with such drawer or shelf or the like II. In this manner, the drawer, shelf or the like II can be pulled outwardly of or pushed inwardly of the enclosure A, as best seen in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings.
Countersunk in retaining pockets I6 provided in the sections I3, which are directly opposite each other, within the enclosure A, are bearing balls I 1, arranged staggered or at spaced intervals apart from each other and circumferentially of the bores of such section, for partial exposure to have contact with the runners I2, to afford free and easy movements to the drawers, shelves or the like II when pulling or pushing the same.
The sections I3 are held in place by fasteners I8 and each against a backing I9, respectively.
The drawer, shelf or the like I I is preferably of the open type construction, and having upstanding walling 20, to hold articles placed upon the same. The shelf, drawer or the like is interchangeable and removable from its mounting. In lieu of bearing balls I'I, roller bearings can be substituted. The mounting can be used for other purposes where appropriate, as for example sliding doors, windows, etc.
What is claimed is:
