Referring now to the figures, l0 represents a steering post of an automobile on which my lighted dispenser ll is mounted by a clamp l2. The dispenser is so mounted as to provide easy access to a discharge opening i3. The dispenser comprises a body i8 which Vis curved inwardly `.to support `cigarets i9 and to` provide for a chamber 2|. The inner end ofthe lever engages an arm 33 and lifts the same to rock a shaft 39 extending across the back piece 24 and having a long cam il adapted to engage the back face of the carrier plate 26 to rock the same forwardly as the shaft is turned.

Depending from lever 34 is an operating member l2 which extends under a lever 43 pvoted on a post M whereby to rock the lever 43 as the member l2 rides upon a cam 4E. The lever 43 will engage a spring arm 116 which bears against a heating element lll to cause the same to be slid inwardly in the manner illustrated more clearly in Figure 6 to abut a cigaret i9 into positioln and force the same against an air suction opening t8 in the plate 33 whereby the lighting of the cigaret can be effected quickly. The heating element is brought into tight engagement with the cigaret end so as to be certain of the lighting action.

At the same time the shaft 39 is rotated an arm 49 in the plate end 32 is brought upwardly to close contact terminals i and 52 to establish the electric circuit for the heater. These terminals are secured to the plate 32 by a screw 53.

Also within the end plate 32 is a valve arrangement 54 having a valve element 55 which is connected to the arm 49 to be lifted as the arm is raised to close the switch terminals. This operation permits air to be sucked along hose l5 and connects the dispenser with a vacuum source.

As the lever 3d is depressed shaft 39 is turned and carrier 35 is moved forwardly to force a sigaret off the supports and onto the carrier portion 28 so that the same will be carried forwardly to a position to be in line with the air suction opening 43 and with the heater element il so that the cigaret will be positioned to be lighted. After retaining the cigaret in this position for a second or two the lever 34 is released and the spring action of the carrier plate 26 will return the parts to their original position and at the same time the forward ends oi the supports 29 and 3i! will push the cigaret from the carrier portion 2S and cause the same to be dropped into a channel space 56 formed in a member 5l so that the oiga ret can be supported and held until the smoker reaches into the opening i3 for it. The entire operation has taken only a few seconds and a completely lighted cigaret is quickly made available and dispensed.

It should be apparent that there has been provided a lighted cigaret dispenser which is of sinne ple construction, neat appearance and is formed `of a minimum number of parts. A single shaft serves to operate the carrier 2S, switch contacts 5| and 52 and the valve arrangement 54.. The heating element @l is operated directly by the lever.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A lighted cigaret dispenser comprising longitudinally extending members forming a chamber, end members, a carrier member vertically connected to one of the longitudinally extending members, said carrier member adapted 'to receive a cigaret from the chamber and move it forwardly to dispense the same, an operating member, a heating element slidably connected in one of the end members, said operating member being connected with the carrier and the heating element to move the carrier with the cigarette forwardly and to cause the heating element to be adjusted in the end member to engage the end of the cigaret.

2. A lighted cigaret dispenser as defined in claim 1 and said operating member being in the form of a lever pivoted on the end member for downward pivotal movement, a lever connected to the end member for rocking movement, a spring adapted to be engaged by the lever and contacting with the heating element to urge the same into engagement with the cigaret, and a member extending between the levers to operate the lever engaging with the spring.

3. A lighted cigaret dispenser as ldefined in claim 1 and a shaft extending along the back of the dispenser and having a cam thereon for operating said carrier, said shaft being connected to the operating memberl to be operated by the same.

4. A lighted cigaret dispenser as defined in claim 1 and a shaft extending along the back of the dispenser and having a cam thereon for operating said carrier, said shaft being connected to the operating member to be operated by the same, said shaft extending into one of the end members and having an arm thereon, a switch connected to the end member to be operated by the arm, and said member having an opening in communication with the valve arrangement to permit the connection of the cigaret with an air suction source.

5. A lighted cigaret dispenser comprising a back portion, a forward portion and end portions, said portions providing for a chamber for receiving a collection of cigarets, a vertically-extending carrier connected to the back portion to be moved forwardly to dispense a cigaret, a bottom member having a channel space for receiving the lighted cigaret and supporting the same until taken by the smoker, said bottom member having cigarette supports extending upwardly, said carrier having a forwardly extending portion being adapted to receive and retain the cigaret upon being taken from the supports, a heater element adapted to engage with a cigarette when moved by the carrier to a position free of the supports, and said supports serving to cause the cigaret to be moved from the forward extending portion of the carrier upon the return of the carrier and to cause the cigaret to be dropped into the channel space of the 4bottom member.
