322,043. Brigg, C. J. Oct. 9, 1928. Igniters combined with cigarette-delivery apparatus; lighting cigars and the like by electric devices. - In a cigarette delivery and lighting apparatus, particularly for use on motor vehicles, a spring-pressed plunger g is partially rotated by means of a knob g<1> to rock a part d' and thereby deliver a cigarette x from a shelt e to a tray f and then moved inwardly to press the cigarette against an electric igniter i, which is moved against the action of its spring supporting arm i<1> and a contact i<2> brought into engagement with a contact i<3> on a spring arm i<4> to close the igniter circuit, a passage g<5> in the plunger being brought into registar with a passage g' in communication with the vacuum tank of the vehicle or other suction source. The part d' is rocked by a pin h on the plunger engaging between lugs d', the pin being disengaged from a fixed lug a<7> at the end of the downward movement. The cigarettes are fed through an aperture c<3> in a pivoted tray c to the shelf e, the tray being rocked by the part d' engaging lugs c<4> for jogging the cigarettes. A curved portion d<3> of the part d<1> prevents the cigarette above the opening c<3> from falling on to the shelf e until the part d<1> is returned to the normal position. The magazine h is detachably secured to the casing a by a rib b<1> engaging a recess a<2> and is provided with a shutter b<3>, operated by a button b<4> and held in the open or closed position by a spring plate b<5>. The apparatus may be fitted in a recess in the dashboard flush with the surface, the magazine being adapted to slide on. the casing and the tray f being tiltable for removing a cigarette. The Provisional Specification describes also a construction in which the igniter is carried by a spring-controlled plunger, the part d<1> is dispensed with, and a cigarette is delivered on to a tray or rest by a spring arm operated by the suction plunger.
