The invention, one 'form of which is illustrated in the' accompanying drawings and described `in the specification to follow, has for one of its objects to provide a bath brush provided with means for adjustably supporting a cake of soap suspended into the body of the bristles of the' brush.
Another object of the invention is to provide a bath brush provided with a soap well therein and means whereby the soap may be secured in adjusted position within the well.
A further object of this invention is to provide a brush the head of which is provided with a soap well therethrough and a movable jaw in the well by means of which soap may be held secured in the well.
A still further object of the invention is to provide in a bath brush a soap holding jaw screw controlled and a tapped wheel on the screw for actuating the same.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a top plan View of the invention,
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view thereof, and
Figure 3 is an elevational view of the invention.
While one embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the above referred to drawings, it u is to be understood that they are merely for the purpose of illustration and that various changes in construction may be resorted to in the course of manufacture in order that the invention may be utilized to the best advantage according to circumstances which may arise without in any way departing from the spirit and intention of the device which is to be limited only in accordance with the appended claims. And while there is stated the primary eld of utility of the invention it remains obvious that it may be employed in any other capacity wherein it may be found applicable.
In the accompanying drawings, and in the following specification, the same reference characters are used to designate the same parts and elements throughout and in which I has reference to the complete invention which consists of a brush head |I with an upstanding center hand gripping portion I2 of a size to provide an opening I3 extending vertically therethrough, which opening is of a size to hold therein a cake of soap i4 which may be held adjustably within the opening or well by means of teeth I5 projecting inwardly from its side wall |6, and similar teeth I'I on the Iinner-surface If8 of'faslidable Fixed -to-the outer surface :0I ofthe -jiawI |19'1 is the inner end 2| of a screw 22 slidably movable through a bore 23 in the bearing 24 extending up and in from the peripheral surface of the brush head II. There is provided a pocket 25 in the member I2 extending down from its upper surface 21 through which the screw projects and tapped on the screw within the pocket is a knurled wheel 28, the periphery of which extends above the surface 21 in order that it may be rotated by the thumb of a user to operate the jaw I9. A washer 29 is loosely seated on the screw spacing the wheel 28 from the outer wall of the pocket 26.
From the above explanation of the invention it will be observed that a cake of soap may be seated in the well I3 and its lower end 3| held projected to any desired depth into the bristles 32 of the brush whereby a person may simultaneously soap and scrub himself, saving one operation and the time for locating the soap in the water as wanted.
From the foregoing specification it will become apparent that the invention disclosed will adequately accomplish the functions for which it has been designed and in an economical manner and that its simplicity, accuracy and ease ofl operation are such as to provide a relatively inexpensive device considering what it will accomplish and that it will find an important place in the art to which it appertains when once placed on the market.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described the invention that which is claimed to be new arid desired to be procured by Letters Patent is: Y
l. A bath brush comprising an oval head formed with a central upstanding vertically apertured hand-gripping portion forming a well for receiving a cake of soap, depending bristle tufts mounted in the lower surface of said brush head, inwardly directed spurs formed integrally on an inside wall of said well forming a xed jaw, a movable jaw supported within said Well opposite the fixed jaw and upon a threaded shank extending transversely through the opposite wall of said well and having spurs formed on the inner surface thereof, and a movable jaw operating nut disposed on said threaded shank whereby the cake of soap may be clamped in the desired adjusted position in said Well.
2. A bath brush comprising an oval head formed with a central upstanding vertically apertured hand-gripping portion forming a well for receiving a cake of soap, depending bristle tufts mounted in the lower surface of said brush head, inwardly directed spurs formed integrally on an inside wall of said well forming a fixed jaw, said head being formed with a pocket disposed parallel with said well and in spaced relation thereto, a transverse aperture formed in said brush head in communication with said pocket, a movable jaw supported upon a threaded shank extending through said aperture and having spurs formed on the inner surface thereof, and a movable jaw operating nut on said threaded shank disposed in said pocket whereby rotation 4 of said nut in one direction will clamp the cake of soap between said fixed and movable jaws.
