. Other objects; advantageous :features of invention will hereinafter appear. 7
Referring to; me accompanying drawings wherein is shown-what at'p rsentis deemed to be a preferred embodiment otthe-invention;
F g 1 is a pers sii ev e Qi-ih i e n its operative position, fragments of the side rails of the crib being shown in section.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary enlarged side elevation of the device shown in Fig. 1 with. a nursing bottle included in the view. A portion of the suspending means at the right of the view being broken away to show interior construction, dotted lines indicating parts in another adjusted position.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary plan view of the device shown in Fig. 2.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the device I; 2 comprises a bottle holding coil 5 which is supportable between; the sidedportions B ef a. baby crib by means of; a pair ofoelongatedspring members? and Said coil whichformsgthe-liottleholder, of a suifi-cient diameter: to-gcontain the bottle '9; 'hav ing a downwardly. directed -neclz portion t nctur nished with a nipple l I, the lower. part of said bottle-holdin coil llqeing lcontracted at i2 around the neck of; the-bottle t qkeep-the bottle from dropping out of the lower end portion of the coil; which coil pOrGiOhyllQWgVEIE; is of a sufficiently large diameter to al-low the bottle neck toextend downwardly therethrpugh, I
Theinner end of thflaspring member I is shown attached by arr-eye t l-directed to one of the turns of the coil 5 at about the mid-lengthofthe latter, butan attaching or .e ualizer clip I5 is'provided as a means for attaching the innerrend of the spring member 8 tq thatside or the; coil 5 which is" diametrically .opposite; tosthe. k attachment of the spring member-fl: there tp.. Said-clip l5 consists of a small flat, vertically disposed plate having its inner edge rportion-(in:.relat ion to the coil 5) provided-withannpper aperture l6 and with a-lowenaperture il'hgadjacent-turns oi-the coil 5 passing rthrough theset-aperturesr The sprin 8 is provided at its inner end with an eye I9 led through an eye in the outer edge portion of theclip l5. H The outer ends Oftthgf elongated-spring members l and 3 are vfastene d to angular anchor clips 28 which :are slidably= adjustable alongthe side portions of the-crib fi'. Each (pf-said clips 20 carries a clamp screw 21; wherehyit may besecured in adjusted position in relation to .the length of the crib. v
The clip-apertureslfi and H 'andtheeye ['4 all receive looselythe wirepi the'bottle-holding coil; hence the -'operat0 r:may:- fscrew said coil; upwardly and downwardly :in relation to i-tssupportingmean's to adjust. aocurately'the height at which the bottle is. supported.
I The. uppervenduportion of *the bottle-holding coil 5 is bridged by'gaubottie KCB'DBYTCOIlSiSfiIIg of a small tension coil spring 23 having an eye portion 24 at each end which fixedly engages the upper turn or convolution of the coil 5 at diametrically opposite points. This arrangement enables the operator to push the keeper 23 to one side preparatory to inserting a filled nursing bottle through the upper end of the coil 5 and then projecting its neck portion through the lower end of said coil to bring the nipple H within the reach of an infant lying in the crib. Then after the bottle has thus been put into place said keeper spring may be brought back into a position wherein it diametrically bridges the upper end of the coil 5, the contractile nature of said keeper frictionally maintaining it in this adjusted posi-.
tion.
Mention has already been made of screwing the bottle-holding coil up and down in relation to its supporting means. As an additional means for adjusting the bottles height each of the horizontal supporting springs throughout its outer portion surrounds a bendable rod 26 or 21, these rods being in any suitable manner united to or made integral with the clips 20, and the springs being secured in place preferably by being soldered to the clips 20.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that the bottle-supporting means afforded by this invention safely supports the bottle in a position wherein the infant has ready access thereto and yet said means is capable of a wide range of adjustment, for the clips 20 to which the elongated spring members 1 and 8 are anchored are adjustable along the sides of the crib to position the bottle at diiferent points in regard to the length of the crib, the bottle-holding coil is vertically adjustable by being rotated or screwed up and down in relation to its supporting means and the soft metal bendable rods 26 and 21 may be deflected downwardly more or less in relation to the clips 29. The final part of the adjustment of the position of the bottle is best effected by rotating the coil which contains it, in the manner which has already been described, for this latter adjustment enables the operator to adjust very accurately the elevation of the supported bottle. Also the resiliency of the device permits considerable lateral deflection of the nipple-carrying portion of the bottle.
Although the invention has been disclosed in relation to a baby's crib the device is equally adaptable for use with a babys carriage or other perambulator.
It should be understood that the present disclosure is for the that this invention includes all modifications and equivalents which fall within the scope of the subject matter claimed.
