Another purpose of this invention is to. provide friction: conducive means in association with; the said rope engaging means and means for limiting the pivotaltravel of the said rope engaging, means relative to the housing.
Another purpose of this invention is to provide a simple device which may be easily manufactured.
Ancillary objects and features of novelty will become apparent in following the description of the preferred form of the invention, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a sectional view of the preferred form of the invention illustrating its use in conjunction with a selected size rope;
Figure 2 is a sectional view of the invention similar to that shown in Figure 1, illustrating the use of the invention in conjunction with a rope of a larger diameter;
Figure 3 is an elevational side view of the invention, and;
Figure 4 is a plan view of the rope engaging and locking means forming a part of the present invention and utilized therewith.
Referring now in detail to the illustrated preferred embodiment of the present invention, like reference characters are used throughout to indicate similar elements thereof.
This invention has been conceived and developed to provide improved clamping means utilized in conjunction with rope or the like. The invention further relates to a clamp of the nature which utilizes the tension in the rope for efficaciously clamping the same. There are many fields or environments wherein the invention is utilized such as clamping the ropes on trucks, anchoring bolts, securing rope utilized in conjunction with construction work and the like.

An aperture 26 is supplied in the bottom portion l8 for the purpose of detachably receiving a resilient biasing means or spring 28 therein. The opposite end of the spring 28 is detachably received around a pin 30 which extends across the walls l2 and M.
A second pin 32 also extends across the said walls I2 and I4 and is selectively engageable by the aligned pairs of slots 2224.
Of course, it is readily apparent that by utility of selected pairs of aligned slots the relative position of the rope engaging means may be adjusted in order to adapt the device for various sized ropes.
Means for limiting the travel of the said rope engaging means relative to the pivotal movement thereof is provided. This means may be noted as simple stops or inturned portions 34 and 36 respectively provided on the said walls l2 and [4. Also, friction conducive means is provided on the lower extremity of said rope engaging means and may be seen as the teeth 38.
Due to the extreme simplicity achieved by the present invention, a further description thereof is deemed unnecessary. However, it is apparent that various departures may be made from the illustrated embodiment of the invention without departing from the spirit thereof. Accordingly, limitation is sought only in accordance with the scope of the following claims.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A rope holder comprising a housing having a base and sides, a rope engaging member, means for pivotally and adjustably supporting said member in said housing, means for resiliently biasing said member toward said base, said supporting means including a pin secured to said sides, curved slots in said member selectively positioned on said pin, said resilient biasing means comprising a spring secured to said sides and said member.

A rope holder comprising a housing, having a base and sides, a rope engaging member, means for pivotally and adjustably supporting said member in said housing, means for resiliently biasing said member toward said base, friction conducive means associated with said member, and means for limiting the pivotal travel of said member, said supporting means including a pin secured to said sides, flanges on said member, pairs of aligned slots in said flanges having angularly disposed slots communicating with said first mentioned slots and selectively seated on said pin.

A rope holder comprising a housing having a base and sides, a rope engaging member, means for pivotally and adjustably supporting said member in said housing, means for resiliently biasing said member toward said base, friction conducive means associated with said member, and means for limiting the pivotal travel of said member, said supporting means including a pin secured to said sides, flanges on said member, pairs of aligned slots in said flanges having angularly disposed slots communicating with said first mentioned slots and selectively seated on said pin, said limiting means comprisin a pair of stops secured to said sides engageable with said flanges.
5. A rope holder comprising a housing having a base and sides, a rope engaging member, means for pivotally and adjustably supporting said member in said housing, means for resiliently biasing said member toward said base, friction conducive means associated with said member, and means for limitin the pivotal travel of said member, said supporting means including a pin secured to said sides, flanges on said member, pairs of aligned slots in said flanges having angularly disposed slots communicating with said first mentioned slots and selectively seated on said pin, said limiting means comprising a pair of stops secured to said sides engageable with said flanges, said limitin means including a spring detachably secured to said pin and said member, said friction means comprising a plurality of teeth adapted to engage a rope.
6. A rope holder comprising a housing having a base and sides, a rope engaging member, means for pivotally and adjustably supporting said member in said housing, means for resiliently biasing said member toward said base, said supporting means includin a pin secured to said sides, slots in said member selectively positioned on said pin.
