Inc, New York, Succursale de Bicnne, Bienne, Switzerland, ajoint-stock company of Switzerland Application August 30, 1946, SerialNo. 694,082 In Switzerland ()ctober 22, 1945.
3 Claims. (Cl. 299-326) The machine according to the invention is used hollow socket in a disk 2! which revolves on the toscreen objects of different sizes, in particular upper extremity of the shaft 9. watch jewels. It" comprises, a series of super- The it is provided'with a belt groove 22 posed screens to which, simultaneously, gyratory taking the means of transmission 23 which passes motion and reciprocatin motion in a vertical 5 over the pulleys 5 and guide pulleys 2i pivoted at direction are imparted. the extremity of an arm of the frame. In this To obtain this result, in the preferred embodiway the motion of the driving wheel d is transment of the invention, the said screens are armitted by the flexible belt 23 to the rotary disk 2 L ranged one tray mounted on the central ele- The tray it is provided with guide-rods 2t ment of a cardan suspension, which element is arranged at 120 to one another, so as to form a moved gyratorily by a rotary disk. frame into which the superposed screens 26 can This disk revolves on one extremity of a shaft be inserted upon a container 2'! at the bottom. supporting the frame of the cardan suspension The size of the meshes of the different screens and to which shaft alternating rectilinear modecreases from screen to screen, being bigger at tion is imparted. The shaft slides in a guidethe top and Smaller at the bottom, whereby the way within the frame and is longitudinally reobjects placed in the uppermost screen will pass ciprocatingly moved by an eccentric revolvably through one or more screens according to their supported by a shaft driving the disk which sizes and will be retained in those having smaller drives the central element of the cardan suss s t a the different sizes of the objects to pension. be sorted out. Certain parts along p p ng to it a gyr r motion Which the line IIII in Fig. 1 are cut transversely. s t ansmitted to the tray l8 and conseq y to With reference to the drawing, i denotes a the screens. Simultaneously, the pulley 7, conframe having a base portion with a plate 2 by nected to an independent source of power, drives means of which the whole machine can be fixed the eccentric 6 which imparts a vertical recipto the work-bench, and a guide extending vertirocating motion to the rod 9 which imparts it cally from said base portion. A shaft 3 traverses over the cardan suspension. to the tray l8 and and revolves within the base portion and has at screens .26. The combined effect of the two kinds one of its extremities a belt pulley 5. An ecof motion agitates the objects contained on the centric 6 revolving on this shaft is driven by a screens briskly and causes them to pass from second belt-pulley 1. This eccentric has a collar one screen to another until they are retained 8 to which a rod 9 is articulated, the latter being by the respective screens with meshes smaller free to slide Wit in a u y of the frame in size than the outside dimensions of the diifer- By means of this arrangement, the rotary motion enfly sized bjects of pulley l is converted into a reciprocating mot I claim tion of rod 9. 1. A screening machine for objects of different o t e pp Portion of rod 9 a hose-member sizes, particularly for watch jewels, comprising, l is fi forming p of support means for a in combination, a Vertical guide, a rod longitu- Cordan s p dinally slidably disposed in said guide and having This base member carries pillars II which 1 d an upper portion projecting thereserve as supports for the outer element l3 of the from, support means mounted on said upper pop cardah Suspehslon referred to t thls tion, cardan suspension means connected to and ment being held between two polnted screws I2. 2. A screen machine as defined in claim 1, comprising drive means connected to and rotating said disk and being independent from the drive means for said rod with respect to speed.
3. A screening machine for objects of different sizes, particularly for watch jewels, comprising, in combination, a base, a guide means extending upward from said base, a rod longitudinally slidably disposed in said guide means and having a lower and an upper portion projecting therefrom, support means mounted on said upper portion, cardan suspension means connected to and supported by said support means and having a gymtorily movable inner element, a tray mounted on said inner element, superimposed screens placed on said tray, a shaft rotatably supported in said base, an eccentric revolvably mounted on said shaft and connected with the lower portion of said rod and imparting a reciprocating up and down motion to said rod and the support means 4 mounted thereon, a disk rotatably supported inside said support means and having a surface portion facing said inner element, a spherical socket in said surface portion, a bore in said inner element, a pin slidable in said bore and having a ball shaped end projecting from said bore and inserted in said socket and imparting a gyratory motion to said inner element and to the tray mounted thereon upon rotation of said disk, and flexible belt means interconnecting said shaft and said disk for driving the latter by the former.
